Default Taylor Swift's New Album - Red

What does everyone think of Taylor Swift's new album? So far, I'm not a huge fan of it. I prefer her when she's singing country, and Red is a mix of streamlined, autotuned, synthesized pop that sounds like every other song on the radio right now and depressing, cliche, slow songs that all the sound the same. "Never Ever Getting Back Together" is the only one that exhibits any of the personality of her old songs.

Most of the songs on the album sound like they were written for and by someone else and then covered by Taylor. They lack the raw emotion that so many of her older songs had. There are a couple that stand out, but overall I felt like the album was a let down. I was planning to ask my husband if I could buy it on iTunes, but after listening to the previews of the songs (and actually skipping through them because I found myself getting bored about 15 seconds in), I think I'll skip this one.

Do they even have itunes in 1955?

I know everyone does what works for them, but if I had to ask if I could spend $9.99, I'd have to get a divorce, pronto.

Neither of us makes discretionary purchases without consulting the other one first. Since he's still in his residency, he's not making what most people think of as a "doctor's salary" yet, and there's not a lot of extra money to spend on things like CDs.

Aw, the king of the castle hasn't given you your housewife's allowance yet. You can look at the new hats, but you can't buy any.

I don't buy things like Starbucks coffee. If I want coffee, I make it at home. It's a sacrifice that I make in order to be able to stay at home, and I'm honestly fine with it. I can't believe so many people are surprised by a husband and a wife (especially just starting out and trying to follow a pretty tight budget) who don't make non-necessary purchases without consulting each other first. It might seem like just a $10 or $20 item, but those things add up, especially if you're both buying them without the other one's knowledge.

Wait, you want to stay at home? I nearly went crazy and sunk into a deep depression when I did, it sure wasn't voluntary. I guess it makes sense if you have kids or have the depressing kind of "lady who lunches" Real Housewife existence. But otherwise it got old real quick for me.

And even then I didn't have to ask to spend $10-20 items.

Staying home is not for everyone, but it's the choice that my husband and I felt was best for us, for various reasons. I'm not going without things that I need; I just don't buy a lot of extras, and I don't mind that. After residency, things will be different, but for now, we need to be more conservative with how we spend our money.

Anyway... about the CD. Has anyone listened to it?

I would love to be a stay at home wife, but not if it entails those kind of sacrifices.
Anyway, hate Taylor Swift so won't be buying it.

I think it is a decent album. I like the fact that she is experimenting with new sounds instead of playing it safe.

It sucks. can we get back to discussing sb's fascinating marital dynamics?
So, what if you want to go out for lunch with your girlfriends? Or for drinks? Or you see something really cute on sale? D you call your husband and ask if you can have it? What if he doesn't answer right away? Do you ever say, fuck it, and buy it anyway?
And wouldn't it just be easier to allocate a certain monthly amount that you can each spend on non-essential items, so you don't have to ask each other permission each time you want to pay money to have Taylor swift assault your ears?
