Right now i'm picking and choosing songs from Calvin Harris' Ready for the Weekend. I highly recommend it!

I have to workout to songs with aggressive beats, I need the motivation. Right now I'm using rap on my workout playlist-

    Straight Outta Compton- NWA
    Victory- B.I.G. and P Diddy
    Things Done Changed- B.I.G.
    Sabotage- Beastie Boys

some eminmem, wu-tang, jay z, and dr dre round out the current list.

what kind of music are you usually into?

i mostly do classes at the gym so don't get to pick the music but when i go on the elliptical or the bike or lift weights, these are some of my favourites:

lcd soundsystem - pretty much any album, but they actually recorded one mix specifically for nike and for running, called 45:33, as part of nike's original run series.
    'tis awesome.

the rapture - wooh! alright but pretty much all of it is good.

    chemical brothers

    mgmt - electric feel (album)

blur - all the fast songs

gorillaz - plastic beach or any other album, really.

franz ferdinand - take me out and any of the other fast, loud songs.

    daft punk

new order is pretty cool for working out too.

agree about blur and gorillaz. the rest of my suggestions will probably make some of you flame me but here goes:

this is the fast paced stuff i listen to when doing intervals:

    red hot chili peppers
    us3
    goldfrapp
salt n peppa (i know, laugh away)
    rick james
    90s stevie winwood
    bette midler's boogie woogie

the slow stuff i listen to during recovery is all over the place, ranges from patsy cline to nick cave.

Two that I often used to play when working out were Walk by Pantera and I Was Made For Loving You by Kiss.

oh yeah, paul simon's 'graceland' album makes me ridiculously cheerful, which is always good for working out. also the song 'kodachrome', though that's on a different album.
