Default RIP Scott Columbus - Manowar

    Source http://manowar.com/

    Scott Columbus, Rest In Peace
    Tuesday - April 05, 2011
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our brother Scott Columbus.

Scott Columbus was a rare talent and equally a rare individual.

He was a father, a friend and a brother of metal.

All of the great moments we spent together in the studio, in our homes and on the road are burnished in our hearts and memories forever.

These words are spoken with heavy hearts but we have the comfort of knowing that he is in a good place and at peace.

    He will never be forgotten.

    Your family and brothers,
    Joey, Eric, Karl, Donnie
He was 54 years old and died in the night of the 4th of April.
The reasons of his death are unknown and it was first announced by his girlfriend in his facebook page and later confirmed on the official website.

Whaaa? The hell? What happened? Maybe him leaving Manowar 3 years ago wasn't really about artistic differences? RIP man, 54 is too young to die

i don't think it's ever about 'artistic differences'.
not a metal fan at all but 54 is way too young.

I think that something happened to him back then: the other guys at Manowar always said that he left because he had some bad peronsal troubles, while he stated that this wasn't the case and that he was just leaving because of artistic differences.
Now he dies at 54 and the reason is unknown.
So it seems to me that the personal troubles that the rest of the band mentioned could be true and could be linked to his death.

He didn't leave the band because of personal troubles, he just couldn't stand Joey anymore and they had some very big disagreements over money ( you know, artistic differences). The same exact reasons he left in the early 90's.

He was a real gentleman, great fun to have a drink with. The nicest guy in the band.

I'm guessing he died of something natural, a heart attack or such.

Actually there are big rumours that it was a suicide but I really hope they aren't true

It was interesting about the time he left in the early 90's and the band said his son had leukemia while he said his son had never been sick. Why make up something like that?

Manowar are playing the Netherlands tomorrow and I wonder what they'll say about it.

^ Aw, it makes me sad to think that. He really was a nice guy.

I assumed natural, because he didn't use drugs when I knew him, and he's in that age where heart attacks just come out of nowhere. Like Pete Steele.

But sadly, suicides happen too. I hope he didn't for his kids sake. I'll send an email to Mark DeMaio and see if I can find anything out.

Keep us posted, if you hear something!

I have read many comments by people who has worked with him or has known him in person and everybody is saying that he he was a great man, with a great personality and really nice.

He had a Tumblr account but hadn't posted anything since last December.

    This is so sad
