every era has it's crap pop music.

But every elder generation complains about the evolutionary state of music. They did it with jazz, rock, synthpop, etc.

Yes, m'am. People associate popular with good. I wouldn't see Avatar and Titanic for that reason. Still can't believe that Eat Pray Love shit and how women went crazy over it.

Not them. Everyone knows they're manufactured machines and have 10 and 12 year old fans. They be remembered for popularity, not content.

Of course, let's not forget Shaun Cassidy and Vanilla Ice

True, but I think we can look back and see those that really had talent. I'm not a fan of the Beatles or led zeppelin, but I can recognize that they had talent as singers, songwriters and musicians. Most of these current artists that are mentioned here are manufactured pop acts. Glitz, glitter, tits and auto tune. You could replace any of them with another.

I'll cop to being the elder generation that thinks 90+ percent of music today is shit. It is autotuned to death and written by the record companies just trying to sell music to the tween masses. Give me a guy/gal with a guitar and a mic any damn day. Now I'm off to run kids off my damn lawn.

Just wanted to add that I took the Witchcurlgirl challenge - I went to Youtube and pulled up three random Bobby Sherman songs and then read the first 10 comments for each. Not one commenter said they wish they made songs like that these days or that songs were so much better back then. And, no, I don't have a graph for that.

By the way, when I was a kid, one of my boxes of cereal had a Bobby Sherman 45 rpm vinyl forged into it. My mom cut it out and I played it endlessly. And I still grew up straight.

I remember records on cereal boxes, they were cool.... and little 45 adapters for my singles.

Records? Aren't those the things they sell in a bin in the back of the thrift store?

I still have all my old 45s. Played Puppy Love by Donny Osmaond for my daughter and her friends when they were home for Thanksgiving. LOL They are more impressed with my old Lps though. They can't believe I have "real" albums from Fleetwood Mac, Steve Miller band, Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Zepplin, Lynyrd Skynrd, etc. They love my Street Survivors since it has the flames. My daughter wears my old concert shirts all the time since they are so vintage.

I may have inhaled, but I never owned an album!
