Default The Late Mahalia Jackson sings "Silent Night"

In my opinion, her rendition of the old Christmas classic is a ten. Beautiful, relaxing voice...perfection. Just gorgeous!

    The Perfect Voice

Listen to the rich, dulcet tones...no tinny, idiotic sounds of people who cannot sing, like Mandonga. What a treat...a real singer! Listening to this voice is relaxing...and to me, enjoyable.

I've always loved Mahalia's voice. One of the few singers who can send chills down my spine in a good way.

Oh,what a treat! I must tell you all-my Mother had a great friend who used to live in San Francisco. She had a housekeeper who invited her to attend the wedding of her daughter. Nothing on paper, just a simple invite. Margaret went to the wedding and Mahalia Jackson stood up and began to sing! Margaret said she got chills,it was the most beautiful thing she had ever heard. Can you imagine? Not a word had been said about Mahalia coming! Turns out she was an old family friend.

Wow. Now that would've been something I would have loved to experience firsthand. A chance to hear Mahalia sing in person.

That version gave me goose bumps. She had one of the greatest voices of the 20th century (IMHO).

McJag - great story. Imagine hearing this woman sing right in front of you. Amazing.

That gave me chills too. Whenever I hear her sing, I cry automatically.

It reminded me of Mahalia singing at a funeral service in Imitation of Life with Lana Turner. I turn into a blubbering fool.
