Default Rage Against the Machine for Christmas number one?

So Brits, just wondering how many of you are going to be buying Killing in the Name by Rage instead of the X Factor single? I may have bought it...once or twice...just to keep Simon Cowell off the top spot
I smile because I have no idea what's going on

I think it's ridiculous. I understand and agree to a certain extent with the cause, but they could have at least picked a Christmas song.

Poor Joe McElderry, he doesn't deserve this.

I actually really love this track so yeah, I may have bought it and I may have encouraged my brother to buy it. And my housemate. And possibly even some of my gaming buddies (apparently if you download it in Hungary it still counts so long as they download it from a UK site ). Oh and I might also have joined the FB group and had some fun with the "Joe iz da bst singa eva!!!11!!!"1! Fuk of u hatezzz!" trolls. Really, the overall standard of trolls just isn't what it used to be.

I had no idea this was going on. Hilarious. Actually, the Uk obsession with the Christmas number one is pretty fun in and of itself.

I'll be in the UK on the 23d...will it be too late for my purchase to influence the count?

In other words, great idea. The song is awesome too.

I hate that the X factor has hijacked the Xmas number one for the past however many years. This campaign is silly but I hope they do get to number one all the same.

So long as you purchase the download from a .co.uk site I think it still counts. Just sayin'...

Edited to add: And just in case it helps sway anyone, the X-Factor winner is singing a cover of a Miley Cyrus song. "The Climb"

Good God, they're already covering songs by MILEY CYRUS?

Because they're classics that can't possibly be reinterpreted enough?

There are two reasons why people play music. To make money and to express one's beliefs. Rage Against the Machine are in it for one of those reasons and Simon Cowell is in it for the other.
