This song is from Whitney's new album. She's lost some of her range and clarity, but there's more depth to her voice. I like this song.

It sounds like this under perfect studio conditions. I doubt she'll be able to
match this in a live setting. She destroyed her gift with her lifestyle. Too bad.
That said: it still sounds better than tons of "talents" who are on the
charts now.

I don't know about perfect studio conditions, because they would've taken out the raspy/gritty edge to her voice. I think this song gives a pretty clear view of what she can, and can't do, anymore.
The drugs fucked up her voice, but I agree she still sounds better than what passes for talent these days.

I'm not sure if I like the song or not, I'm leaning towards not. But I think I actually prefer her voice now. It sounds human. I've never been a big fan of the perfect-voiced divas like Whitney or Celine or Mariah. I prefer a little character in a voice.

doesn't even sound like her anymore.. she's wheezy, and the timbre is way off.. she's lost the resonance and depth... you can hear her voice breaking when reaching for any power. She seriously damaged her vocal cords.
She sounds like she has fucking emphysema, or some boozy jazz singer.
Are you sure this is her??

Yeah, the song is definitely Whitney.
The drug damage has added a deeper tone/grit to her voice, but even without the drugs/cigarettes she wouldn't sound just like she did 15 or 20 years ago just due to age.

I heard they're doing an uptempo remix of it, which I want to hear. While I like the song, it's not good for the summer.

I heard the song on the radio, and as I listened to it again.. I was disappointed. I do like the lyrics.

I may sound like a cranky old broad, but can someone write a song nowadays with a fucking melody? Jesus H. Christ. Just horrible. Sounds like one of those American Idol songs.
And re: she would sound different 15 years later even without the crack: listen to jazz singers such as Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson or Sarah Vaughn. Their voices were beautiful in their 40s and beyond. Hell, even Aretha sounded fantastic at Whitney's age, with no age deterioration. Actually, most real singers get better when they are in their 40s. I'm sorry, but you've got to do a whole lot of fucked up shit to mess up your voice that bad.
