    BOWIE AND ELTON
Born very close together... Bowie on 8th Jan 1947 and Elton on 25 March 1947
I wonder which guy has lasted longer ... writing wise ?

    1989 Healing Hands
    1989 Sacrifice
1994 Can you feel the love tonight ?

Those two songs... Healing Hands and Sacrifice... both from 1989 are brilliant songs from a guy fast approaching 50 !
can t think that Bowie wrote anything as good in his 40s.

Thursdays Child comes to mind from 1999..
Elton and Bowie... two amazing talents... at the very top of Rock and Pop both with an awesome catalogue of songs
Lets face it guys... they are both Rock Legends !

can you feel the love tonight? sacrifice? seroiusly???

elton will never compare to david bowie.
elton was pretty good in the 70s, then started churning out romantic piano pap.

while it's true bowie now looks like an old woman and hasn't done anything really worthwhile since the mid-80s, everything he did before then is so fucking genius it doesn't matter.

yep, elton is a classic case of 'had it- then lost it'...and he wrote his best songs with with bernie taupin, he doesn't have the depth bowie has as an artist

I like him but he can't be compared to bowie, bowie is in an entirely different league
It's no longer a dog whistle, it's a fucking trombone

Elton John and Bernie Taupin were brilliant together.. after he announced his "retirement" in the late 70s, his material thereafter just wasn't the same. Bowie never lost his fearlessness, though.. he's fucking awesome for that.

I liked early Elton but later went too pop and circumstance for my liking. I've always like the chameleon changes Bowie went through his entire career. I was fortunate enough to catch the last tour he did before having heart surgery and he was as wonderful voice and presence as the first time I saw him in 73-74 during the Ziggy Stardust tour. Also had the pleasure of meeting Iman and him quite a while a go at an NYC event and they were both very lovely and gracious since they were hosting the event. Spent time with everyone known or unknown equally - not often done by people so highly celebrated.
as privileged as a whore...victims in demand for public show, swept out through the cracks beneath the door, holier than thou, how?
