I've read so many stories recently and I have a few questions.
What I don't understand is the contradicting drug/alcohol abuse stories. When her mother "made" her go into rehab she was tested for everything under the sun & she had no drugs nor alcohol in her system.
Most recently when she was taken to the hospital from her home. The police officers stated, matter-of-factly, that she was obviously under some type of drug... prescription or non-prescription. But when they tested her, nothing was found in her system.
Does everyone believe the toxicology results are fraudulent because she's Britney? Why would that matter? Nothing else is off-limits to release to the public, so why not the factual toxicology report?
|
I wonder the same things, too! Here's what I think, it is possible that the court ordered drug tests only screened certain street drugs/non-prescription drugs so if she's abusing prescription drugs that wouldn't be found. Another thing, maybe in actuality, noone is allowed to disclose someone's toxicology results (I could be wrong here, I really don't know about the legalities of such things...).

I don't think there's ever been any "official" report that Britney tested clean after her recent meltdown or when she was in Promises Rehab. Britney's people might have said so, but that doesn't make it so.
The strongest evidence pointing to a drug problem--the custody judge agreed she was a frequent and habitual drug user and ordered her drug tested. We don't know how he came to that conclusion, but I doubt he just took K-Fed's word for it, ya know?

If someone were to think she is mentally ill with no sympathy, I think that says a lot about you.
I voted other.

I agree. The courts just don't go by hearsay alone. They had test results that came back positive for sure.

I voted mentally ill, with no sympathy. I have and have had a lot of people with various psychiatric diagnoses around me, and I've seen a lot of different ways of reacting to and living with various disorders, many of them the same ones that are possible/plausible for Britney. I have never seen anyone with worse coping skills than her, and I have a rather horrible example fairly close - not my own family, but an in-law of sorts.
She has been diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder, and she is manipulative, irresponsible, selfish, extremely self-destructive and imposes all of this on her daughter, whom she apparently loves, but still uses rather recklessly to feed her own ego and fill her need for love, reassurance and validation. I have heard her tell her daughter that she'd kill herself if she didn't have her, that she's the only reason for her to live and things like that on several occasions - way to place an unbearable burden on a kid that's barely out of kindergarten.
She is not stupid, and she has a pretty decent idea of what her problems are; she is on meds and goes to therapy. I have sympathy for her obvious illness, but the way she uses other people, especially her own child, completely overshadows that sympathy. There is no excuse for that. There are reasons, but they don't justify treating others the way she does, mental illness or no.
I feel the same way about Britney - she just seems even worse.

I think she is mentally ill and I sympathize. I think back to the days when whenever you saw her, she had SPF on her hip. Hardly ever went anywhere without him. I thought she was a good mother. Then she had JJF and divorced KFed. After that, to me, is when she went downhill. I think it's PPD and mental illness combined. I hope one day she will get the help she needs. She has it in her to turn her life around, I think, and I hope she does it. I hope to see her on 20/20 one day watching old tapes of herself and saying "Oh my God, I can't believe that is me."

Britney's people have been very good at releasing "official" statements that no one takes to task. Such as, Promises found no drugs, she's bi-polar, she was clean when she was involuntarily committed. Many people just accept these as fact. However, the judge who had access to the reports from Promises, labeled Britney a "habitual drug user." He also would not have thought it necessary for her to have routine drug tests if there was nothing there, but he did (and she failed to show to most of them). He didn't pull that out of his ass. That is one of the few things I know as a fact. I don't believe she is mentally ill, I do believe she is mentally borderline handicapped. And like I said before, you can be a douche AND mentally ill anyway, being ill doesn't absolve the other. Above all, she's a spoiled brat who is very used to getting her way. If you say no to her, or question her, you will be cut out of her life very quickly. And god forbid you ever try to push her into rehab. In her world, everyone else is to blame but herself.
