Above all, I think she's a junkie. Secondly, she's dumb as a box of rocks and third...bitch is craaaaaaaaaaazy!
Indifference is the stance I take. It's hard to feel too sorry for someone who has all of the resources in the world to take care of their problems and they thumb their noses at everything.

I also think she's both. It seems to me that she must be bi-polar - I do find it hard to sympathize though because it looks like she does nothing but stupid things when she's got her "good" periods - and I simply cannot understand how she can do that to her children

I don't think she is a very smart woman, but I do think she has some kind of mental illness along with being a child star. And it is a known fact that many mentally ill people use drugs/alcohol to medicate themselves.
I do have sympathy for her. I think it's heartless to not feel bad for people who are not mentally healthy. It's not like they want to be different or have a chaotic life. You know if they could flip a switch and be normal they would, they just can't do that.
My own brother could be Britney's twin. They seem like screw ups to the rest of us "normal" people, but they really have a hard time taking care of themselves.
It's easy for us to pass judgement when we don't have to walk in the shoes of mentally ill people. And I do believe she loves her children though despite her behavior that says otherwise. My brother didn't show up to my wedding (he was supposed to be in the wedding party) and he didn't visit me in the hospital when I had my child (he promised to see me). I know he didn't show up because he is not right in the head and it wasn't because he didn't love me. He does a lot of things I don't understand and that make me angry, but he doesn't do it all to hurt me.
Maybe I just sympathize because my family is going through the same thing as Britney's family - we would like to get my brother committed so he can be helped too.
I would be shocked if she wasn't mentally ill, but I would bet money that even if you took away all the drugs and alcohol, she would still be acting crazy. It's very sad.

I find Brit's trainwreckage entertaining. No sympathy from me for her yet. She should be held accountable for her actions and behaviours. She's responsible for herself and her children and should face the consequences of her stupidity and self-centredness. Learn from your own mistakes. Isn't that how we become better human beings?
I feel sorry for her boys though. They're innocent in all this, they didn't choose who their parents would be.

I agree. I think the "crazy" is just an after effect of all the stupidity, drugs, and alcohol. Plus she never has to face the consequences for anything. Absolutely NO sympathy.

I definitely don't think she's particularly bright, but that's not her biggest problem. I said this in a previous thread, but I think she has a mental illness that has been exacerbated by drug use.
I do feel sorry for her. It's heartbreaking to watch videos of her as a kid and teenager... this bright, happy, incredibly talented young girl with so much going for her... and to know what she's become.
I hate to see someone spiraling so far out of control with no apparent support system. She doesn't have any friends that I'm aware of (I'm not including the string of users/enablers like Adnan Ghalib and Alli), and she's pushed her family away so many times that they seem to have finally washed their hands of her. She's alienated everyone who cared about her.
It's sad to me that someone who was once on top of the world is now at a point where she thinks "it would be better if [she] was dead".
I know how it is to feel like everything is just falling apart and like your life isn't working out according to your plans and your dreams, and it's a tough place to be. I think Britney knows she's headed in the wrong direction and she's just so far gone now that she's given up. I get the impression sometimes that she's reached a point where she truly doesn't care if she lives or dies, and my heart really goes out to anyone in that situation. I pray for Britney and for her family every night.
I think it's also about pride. She doesn't want to admit that she has a problem. There's a huge stigma associated with mental illness in our society, so I think that makes Britney and other people who are suffering from it reluctant to get the help that they need. I think a lot of her recent behaviors, acting out in public, are cries for help.

Gotz to disagree with that bit, sorry. She became what she "was" all thanks to external help like management, recording engineers/producers, makeup artists, stylists etc. She does NOT have an incredible talent.

As a young girl, I think she did. I don't know what happened to her voice as a teenager, but when I saw these vocal performances, I was impressed.
