Even as someone who has never had a soft spot for Britney, and in fact could never stand her, I agree with you, southernbelle. I know that making fun of celebrities is part of what comedians do, and I don't really mind, but I'm uncomfortable with them doing it while the person they are making fun of is actually right there. Her comments were not funny, they were just plain MEAN. And of course it was tasteless and wrong to bring the children into it. I hate SS after just 3 minutes of exposure.

Right now, I don't care for Britney and I'm glad SS ripped on her kids. After I saw that video of Brit calling a papparazzi fat and cursing at her I lost ALL respect for her. I don't care if it is a paparrazzi, she was very hateful. So I'm glad she bombed and I'm glad SS wasn't afraid to make fun of her.

I disagree. Children are defenseless. You don't make fun of children. Period. No matter how much of a trainwreck their mother is. It's not like that pap was a 10 year old, he was a grown man.

i didn't watch the vid of sarah silverman on britney but i remember she was pretty hilarious when she insulted paris at the mtv movie awards. the funniest part was watching jack nicholson, he looked like he really got a kick out of it. oh, and paris' face was priceless too.

did she say something more than that Britney's kids were the "cutest mistakes" or something like that? I thought that Britney herself was said to have made the comment that her kids were mistakes.

I'm starting to think that the whole show was a sad statement on the state of humanity.

I thought she looked like she was on the verge of crying, yet she still went through with it and tried to maintain some dignity, quietly thanking the audience after she BOMBED that routine- and she knew that she did.

This was a huge step for her. And for the most part (with the exception of Rihanna and a few others), the audience members were very courteous, politely clapping despite their disappointment and shock, and realizing that this was not an appropriate time to subject Britney to any further embarrassment.

When Sarah Silverman got up there immediately afterwards, tastelessly making jokes at Britney's expense and encouraging the audience to laugh at her, my heart just broke for her and for her family members who I'm sure were watching. The comments about Britney's kids were despicable, and I think that most of the celebs in the audience were offended and uncomfortable as well.

I was under the impression that Sarah Silverman was supposed to be more like "the host," with more than just one monologue, and I think they may have told her not to come back on because she was so poorly received. I also suspect she'll never be offered another awards show again. She really crossed the line with this.
I totally agree. Some posters here have said they have no sympathy, but I do. I reserve my contempt for mean-spirited, ugly, evil and conniving creeps (like Sarah Silverstein, who was so beyond tasteless I turned off the TV).

I'm not excusing Britney's behavior, but she doesn't deserve the vitriol she receives in many places. She's a clueless girl who is a product of her history. It's pathetic, and sad. There are so many people in Hollywood who get skipped over - unbelievably - when the venom is dished, and they're the ones who really deserve it.

Who (else) is this whiny ape woman fucking/sucking to keep getting gigs? Surely Jimmy Kimmel doesn't have that much pull in the biz. She is not remotely funny. The only "entertaining" factor about her is that she is so consistently untalented, yet she never shies away from another opportunity to bomb - she's like the William Hung of the comedy business.

She's really untalented, but if she worked on her delivery, she might be able to salvage just a little. How many times did she say "Wow" when she was lost onstage? The most response she got was when she name-dropped. I think her next set should consist of her coming on stage and reading a list of famous names. That will get more applause than she's ever heard.

I think the main reason Sarah Silverman has a career as a comedian is because she's physically pretty and slept with the right people.

Because if you're gonna be rude and crass just for the shock factor, you HAVE to back it up with the funny. She does NOT bring home the funny. That just leaves rude and crass, which turns people off.

Instead of Sarah Silverman, I would have liked to have seen Chelsea Handler. She does a lot of rude/toilet humor but without name-dropping or making cruel jokes at other people's expense.

She's there for shock value, although she is not funny (well with Paris, she cracked me up) she doesnt fail to entertain. People made a big deal about her and her jokes after Paris and now the same thing is happening with Brit. I wouldnt even know who this Sarah chick is before all this....she's definately making a name for herself, and im pretty sure that's how she planned it.

Sarah Silverman is not funny. And that was a low blow what she said about Britney Spear's kids.

Did she really say about Brit's kids that they are as cute as the hairless vagina they came out from? I wouldn't laugh at this, it's completely disgusting. What a horrible bitch! She made me feel bad for Britney!
