Re: Katie Holme's Playlist
I am ashamed to admit that I fell asleep last night thinking of more songs. Before I drifted off, these are what I came up with:
"Do Not Go Quietly Unto Your Grave," Morphine*
"Good Feeling," Violent Femmes*
"Mysterious Ways," U2*
And, just to be ironic, I'd throw in a little "It's Oh So Quiet" by Bjork.
*Note not only the song title but the name of the band as well. HAH! I crack myself up sometimes...

I think it's great that gonflable (a non-native English speaker remember) has mastered the apostrophe, unlike the majority of native English speaker's who put one after every word ending in S. Are you writing a thesi's on aphostrophe's gonflable? If so, I'm afraid your next move is to write a ranting tirade of hysterical abuse and then flounce off the board forever and we'd hate you to do that darl.

no, when it ends with s, you drop the additional s after the apostrophe.

No, only if the following word starts with a S.
Or you drop it because the word is a plural.
eg. My sons' treehouse.

I'm still confused about this. I would personally write it as Holmes', not Holmes's.
Quote:
Rule 4. To show singular possession with proper nouns ending in s or an s sound, add an apostrophe and an s. Examples Ms. Straus's office is next to mine.
Texas's weather in summer can vary greatly.Add the apostrophe and an s to names that end in z or x to show singular possession: Examples Jose Sanchez's drumming is well known in Cuba.
Ms. Marx's fiction draws on her background as a journalist.
It is acceptable to add just an apostrophe under these circumstances:- Nouns or proper nouns ending in s but sounding like z:
Examples Dr. Hastings' hat blew off in the storm.
Euripides' tragedies often reveal a hero at birth.
Mrs. Lees' hair came to her waist.
Mr. Jones' cat likes our dog. - Nouns or proper nouns where the s is unpronounced:
Examples The marquis' father planned for his son to be king one day.
Illinois' favorite son is Abraham Lincoln.- Nouns or proper nouns of three or more syllables that end in s:
Examples Adelphos' loyalty suits his name, which means "brother."
Alcestes' rescue by Hercules saves her from death. The following names traditionally do not use the s after the apostrophe to show possession: Examples Jesus' followers were first called Christians at Antioch.
Moses' leadership was not always respected by the wandering Israelites.
