My living room is that dark grey color. I like that color but that's about it. It doesn't look cozy and for 5.4 million I could have bought something a lot nicer anyway.

I don't like it. It looks plain and pretentious, just like Gwyneth.

I will never own a home this extravagant but I love what I do have. My home isn't decorated, it's lived in and every piece of it is a memory that my husband and I share. To me, it's the most beautiful home ever.
Oh, I really hate her fucking house. Hope her kids ruin the carpet.

Mario Buatta the designer is very down to earth and so funny. He was dubbed the Prince of Chintz. Some know his name because he did Mariah Carey's apt which was so overdone and not in a good way. He's a superb designer and does a look for a particular clientele. Mariah's place looks like Mario threw up his hands and said "Whatever, gimme the check".
I also want to add that her home (in my not so humble opinion when) is styled, not designed. There is a difference.

Weird - I almost like elements of it, but just... not quite. I hate stark, cold white, and while the kitchen is handsome, I'm all about warm colours in the kitchen. I like the way the dining room looks in the pic, but most of what I like is transient stuff, the colours of the dishes, etc.

Oh yeah, lots of well known people, especially the socialite types get away with the I did it myself bit. I used to think that Caroline Roehm was like that but she knows what she's doing, she has great taste and the bucks.
Some people just have that midas touch with everything with or without formal training, truly a gift.
Suede - here's a story that will make you laugh. A long time ago I was at Kips Bay Showhouse and I was standing near Mario Buatta. I've known him by chit chat for years. OMG - That is a riot.

Now I'm curious Chalet! First, were you referring to Mariah's or Gwyneth's place that is styled and not designed? And most importantly, what is the difference between "styled" and "designed" in your professional opinion? I really wanna pick your brain about that one because I'm in a new place and we're still deciding what to do with it.

It looks boring. I love modern, but this is overkill. Plus the outside has a different look than the inside so it doesn't flow.
