She must have a whole separate wing that's not pictured where the kids play. All that white is not very kid friendly. It would look filthy in a week with my 2 kids around. And they're not bad kids, but kids touch everything and their hands aren't usually very clean.
Of course, Princess Gwyneth probably has a nanny for each kid to follow them around all day long and make sure they don't touch anything. And a maid to immediately wipe behind them if they do.
We had our foyer (2-story) painted a year and a half ago (yellow) and it's already looking pretty bad. I'll probably repaint next year. Maybe a taupe color will hide the fingerprints better.
Oh, I forgot to say that I covet the Pilates studio.
But overall the house is not my style. We're more Pottery Barn kind of people.

Also, let's not forget it's her home in the Hamptons. She's there for probably two weeks out of the entire year.

I love it! People always say my house looks like a model home too...not nearly as nice as her stuff, but no clutter anywhere. Of course, I don't have any kids...so that pretty much takes most mess away. Not sure how she does it with kids. Guess the fact that it's only a summer house helps...and she and her kids live somewhere else full time.

It's a nice place, but it doesn't have much warmth or personality. Then again, it is ol' fishsticks, so there ya go.

It really does!
I like the gym and the pool. I also think the landscaping is beautiful. But everything else looks so clinical, hotel-y and devoid of personality.

She rented the damn place for a photo op. Already back on the roster. Just like the rest of celebs who keep their "residences" and "vacation homes" for 5 minutes.

Sterile, bland, and uncomfortable looking. Putting some rectangles in empty white rooms is not a design to go ga-ga over. The sofa in the photo below looks like a urinal, and the two art pieces on the wall look like boobies. Maybe a pair of flat boobies are supposed to remind Gwyneth of herself?

.......or a morgue, infact being in the same room as her would probably tip me over the edge and send me straight to the morgue. Like i said before i like certain aspects of the house but my overall feeling is that it is too plain and 'cold'....... just like the owner i guess.

Yeah, pretty much what everybody said about being cold. The kitchen is attractive, but my kitchen needs to be a warm, inviting place, the center of the home where people gather and enjoy life. Warm colors and wood is much more my style.

Artwork is tricky these days because it's often protected by copyright so they can't reproduce it in magazines or those makeover TV shows. That's why they always either make their own crappy art to hang on the wall, or blurr out the images of 'real' pictures.

This is probably a vacation home, and these are the "public rooms". If she supervised this ugly setup herself, then she shouldn't be proud of it.

Another "desacrator"!
Oh yeah, lots of well known people, especially the socialite types get away with the I did it myself bit. I used to think that Caroline Roehm was like that but she knows what she's doing, she has great taste and the bucks.
Suede - here's a story that will make you laugh. A long time ago I was at Kips Bay Showhouse and I was standing near Mario Buatta. I've known him by chit chat for years. It was the time where everything was "faux" painted. I said "look at all the faux painting". He replied " Faux this, faux that, if I see one more faux thing I'm going to faux up".

Cold, cold, cold. Why now, why is she opening up her house to the public?
