I really just don't get why Leo didn't earn a nomination for Revolutionary Road. I mean, If Brad Pitt can get a nomination for wearing old man make-up, then Leo certainly deserves one for his STELLAR performance! Thoughts anyone? xo source: OSCAR.com - 81st Annual Academy Awards - Nominees

I think Leo deserved a nomination, not sure why he was overlooked and Brad got the nod.
Although I am sure the Oscars want both AJ and Brad to attend the ceremony. By nominating both it does ensure both will attend.

Yep I agree - I think politics was definitely part of that- and lots of good actors get overlooked for noms.

I'm convinced the Academy people hate Leonardo and Johnny Depp. They should have given them an Oscar by now.

Yeah its definitely political. By nominating both Angelina and Brad, they feel like they can cajole at least the hardcore fans into watching this year. Nobody has been tuning into the Oscars lately, so its an obvious way of trying to get people to tune in. They know Brangelina gets the headlines, so they needed a nod (neither will win). There were many brilliant performances, but the Academy always overlooks smaller independent films and goes for the mainstream blockbusters, which is also giving the public what they want. Its dumb but the Oscars, Golden Globes, they all mean nothing.

I don't know what it is, but I just plain don't like Leonardo DiCaprio. I have an irrational dislike of him. I don't think he's hot, he strikes me as a douchebag, and I think he's overrated, a good actor but not as great as his hype.

Leo was Oscar-worthy in Blood Diamond and the Departed. His performance in Revolutionary Road was not that good. It was all Kate.

I don't get why the Academy didn't nominate Winslet in the Lead Actress and Supporting Actress category for her two films.

Hell to the yeah. Leo is an excellent actor, certainly better than Pitt (and I've loved some Pitt movies). Johnny, to me, is just fantastic.
In Johnny's case, I figure it's just that he doesn't take those leading man roles that tend to be oscar bait. He actually creates off kilter, strange, typically dark characters.

True Johnny does tend to do that but he should get an Oscar just for looking good doing it! 
Seriously tho' Leo is so much more talented and better looking than Pitt he deserves the nod not Pitt.
