New book? Not that I've heard. That rubbish by David Bret is coming to softcover though.
Does anybody know anything about a new book coming out later this year that claims that Clark Gable had a great secret love...and that person was not Carole Lombard?

A while ago it came out that he had had a child with a famous actress (I want to say Barbara Stanwick but not 100% sure) who went away to hide the pregnancy and came back with an 'adopted' baby. People Magazine had a big feature. The adult 'child' looks just like Gable.
The story about Loretta Young's daughter has been out for a while. There's a chapter about it in Kenneth Auger's book "Hollywood Babylon" which was published years ago. The daughter, I think her name is Judy?, looks remarkably like him.
If there's a new "secret love" it's probably a guy - Cary Grant perhaps?
Why do people say "Grow some balls"? Balls are weak and sensitive! If you really wanna get tough, grow a vagina! Those things take a pounding! -Betty White
Who knows. Those 30s and 40s Hollywood stars were just a promiscious and crazy as Paris Hilton only they didn't have to worry about HIV/Aids.

I know it's not Loretta Young.
As a previous poster said, that's "old news".
Oh for sure, and back then Hollywood was the place to be if you were beautiful and promiscuous. At that time, you might be run out of a small town on rails if you behaved the way they did in Tinseltown, but there you could give free reign to your sexuality and you wouldn't be shunned because everyone else was doing it too. Even gays could find an accepting community and outing was all but unheard of.
Don't fear the reefer..
But syphilis was not curable at that time - antibiotics only came in during/after WWII... Isn't HIV said to be the syphillis of our time?
If you were in favor by the studios you could (and some did) get away with murder; they managed everything & the police were in their pocket (even more so that we think now).
However, if you weren't in favor you were completely stuffed...
Uh, it was obviously Loretta Young for all the airs and holier than thous she behaved with years later. She and Clark filmed "The Call of the Wild" together and she virtually disappears after the film for something like, er, um, almost a year. Reappeared with the cutest baby sporting ears that flap outward just like Clark Gable's with some filmsy story about having fallen in love with the tyke at some orphanage she was visiting so she adopted baby Judy.
"Hollywood Babylon" had a great photo of Judy as an adult that looked so much like Clark it was scary. Clark in drag. If she's not his daughter I'll eat my computer chair.
So, "later this year" is approaching. What is this supposed book?

An IMDB profile claims Judy is the child of Clark Gable and Loretta Young. Loretta admitted it in her autobiography. Clark was married to someone else at the time and it would have created a big scandal.
One of the funniest stories I heard about Loretta is that when she had her tv show "The Loretta Young Show" she had instituted a curse jar, fining guest stars for using colorful obscenities. One guest star supposedly handed her a twenty after being tapped to pay up and uttered, "Here's a twenty now fuck off Loretta!"
and this quote - Marlene Dietrich said of her: "Every time she 'sins,' she builds a church. That's why there are so many Catholic churches in Hollywood.".
Still no book?
Maybe Cody Jarrett was just trying to drum up business.... should've posted a link to it on amazon....
