Who thinks Britney Spears is mentally ill, as opposed to just plain stupid?

This seems to be a very polarizing subject on the board as of late, and I'm interested in what the majority here thinks.

Personally, I think she's mentally ill to the point she cannot recognize it on any level. Up until very recently, I felt very little sympathy for her, because she has the resources available to someone with her money and connections, and yet refuses to seek help. But now, I don't think she sees it. I think she's gone around the bend completely, and I feel a shred of sympathy.

Anyway, vote and/or post your thoughts/opinions, if you're so inclined.

^^I agree with your analysis, Laurent. As I've said for a while, I think she is not very bright, but also mentally ill. That combined with a serious case of child star/fame fucked-upness makes for some very self-centered, bizarre behavior.

I think she's stupid and hooked on drugs, with a little mental illness to top it off. But the stupidity is the main problem.

I think she's mentally ill, and until she gets help and takes herself away from all of this negative attention, she won't get any better.

I think she is mostly just a stupid, self-centred brat, with a little side of crazy exacerbated by drug use. But, like Kingcap said, stupidity is the main problem.

I agree with both, and I feel sorry and then again I don't.

I'm a sappy person to a degree, and I think it's too easy hate.

I don't care for her as a person, I do feel sorry to a degree, but the longer this goes on the less sorry I feel.

Her children one would hope, would snap her out of it, but she was never mother material, and I don't think she posesses that maternal gene.

I think she knows what she is doing..with all this stagged stuff in public..doing all this stuff herself.. C'mon if you were her, the ONLY reason YOU would go to the drug store with all the paps out is TO GET PHOTGRAPHED doing it..To be in the SPOTLIGHT..which is what I think she LIVES for.. from what age ? 7-8 that is all she has known.

What has she done lately to receive good press? Nothing so this is the only way to get it.. good, bad or indifferent, I think she thrives on it.

Oh, I don't think she's stupid when it comes to getting attention. That doesn't take a genius IQ. Plus, she doesn't have one ounce of common sense or street smarts.

She had such an insulated childhood..yes she was famous, but she was never in the real world and had her protective circle around her making all her decisions. So now she has no idea how to make even the most basic decisions for herself. It's like the only thing she knows is how to make herself the center of attention.
