Fed up with Lainey

Is anyone else here fed up with Lainey's relaxed posting schedule? She always thanks her readers' support for getting the E! gig, but now that gossip is a full time career, is it unreasonable for fans to expect her to be more professional?

During Cannes and the Toronto film festivals, she dropped the ball by not posting regularly, then complained she was too exhausted. Now it is two days after Christmas and she still hasn't posted. Even Ted C. has his column up and running today.

I've never been too partial to Lainey. Couple of years ago, a poster at another gossip board I go to caught Lainey using her post verbatim in her column (as a blind item, iirc). It was apparently very obvious that she lifted from the post and she never fessed up to it. Almost everyone hates her at that board now, and I'm rather convinced myself, I think she's kinda hacky. She doesn't strike me as very professional, and Toronto Girl's complaint seems to fall in line with that.

Don't know who she is but clicked on her site a few times because of links here and I don't like the way it is set out there. So I don't bother with it.

Yeah,I don't like the setup,and sometimes it seems she gets her stuff secondhand.

I agree. That's what happens when amateurs get hired instead of professional journalists/broadcasters.

Okay, it isn't just me. Good. The second hand stuff certainly rings true. Not too long ago she had major egg on her face with the Rachel McAdams & Ryan Gosling break-up.

For months she had been writing that her impeccable sources were telling her things were okay with them. Yeah they were having some relationship pains, but they were still together and tight.

When the break-up hit all the blogs because of Ryan's interview with GQ, Lainey was the last to post on it. Much later in the day or the next day she posted exclusive news from her source about why they broke up. And buried in the post was that they had broken up the previous July/August...

But Lainey had been posting in July, August, September that her sources said they were together and were tight. So much for her sources...

Beeyotch, what is the other blog where Lainey lifted the item?

I get frustrated with Lainey because half the time her "gossip" is just fashion commentary. I also skip about a third of what she posts because the people aren't gossip-worthy. I couldn't care less who Emmy Rossum is or what she did. I don't care about Katherine Heigl or Heather McCartney and I hate how she gushes over Brad and Angelina. They just aren't.that.interesting.

I do like when she dishes about Britney, like when she wrote about the photoshoot where Britney went crazy. But what I really want to know is what drugs Britney is on.

So true. Her lay-out is also fugly.

Yeah, I don't read the fashion posts either. Don't care about who wore what to a premier and whether or not is made their legs look thick.

Lots of fluff on her site and little substance. Unfortunately. I'd love to support a hometown girl, but now that Lainey's playing on the same field as the big boys, she's not cutting it most of the time.

I went back and found discussion re: the incident I was talking about. Lainey cut and pasted a post from a message board, a poster's criticism of the validity of Lainey's sources, and wrote it up as a "letter" to her and responded to it. The same poster notes that she (the poster) wrote some of her own gossip info on the board which Lainey also swiped and presented as her own. Plagiarism, really.
