Rachael ray Overkill
Oprah Winfrey's wunderkind, Rachael Ray, took the scene by storm in 2007. You can't walk down the aisle at your local supermarket without seeing Ray's face plastered on the side of a box. But with all the deals comes backlash. Most people can't tolerate the perky chef, who was called a "bobblehead" by Travel Channel personality Anthony Bouradin.

Oprah's YouTube Channel
Winfrey caught up with the rest of the world by getting involved in the YouTube sensation, launching her own channel with original content from her daily talk show. But what's the fun in having YouTube clips if her channel moderates comments and disables embedding, so users can only share links and can't place videos on their own sites. If you can't take the heat, get out of the e-kitchen, Oprah.

The Secret
Winfrey endorsed the controversial self-help program 'The Secret' in 2007. Despite amazing sales, partly thanks to Oprah's endorsement, critics argued that Winfrey's stamp of approval was irresponsible given her power. Critics argue that 'The Secret' trivializes important decisions and promotes a quick-fix material culture.

BET's Meet The Faith
Winfrey made her second appearance on BET's 'Meet The Faith' in July to discuss her responsibility to the black community. "To hell with your criticism, I don't care about what I did, because it's what I did," Winfrey said before she broke out into tears. Too bad Winfrey wasted those tears for the Black Exploitation Television audience.

Hip-Hop Town Hall Meeting
On paper, the idea of moderating a hip-hop town hall meeting seemed like a great idea. But the final product turned into a two-part hot mess, with the rappers and the anti-hip-hop advocates pointing the finger at each other. The highlight of the town hall was NY Daily News columnist and all-around grouch, Stanley Crouch, indirectly calling music executive Kevin Liles a "clown." Good times.

Oprah's Dog Chokes to Death
How could we not feel sorry for Oprah when we heard the news in May that Gracie, her 2-year-old golden retriever, died after choking on a plastic ball that belonged to Sophie, Winfrey's 12-year-old cocker spaniel. "Weeks have passed," Winfrey says in the August issue of O, the Oprah Magazine. "And the pain has not subsided. Every time I think about it, my heart starts racing and I feel like I just got stabbed in the chest." Chalk it up as reason #742 Oprah needs a real man in her life. And we aren't talking about Stedman.

Oprah Supports White Supremacist
Winfrey was forced to pull Forrest Carter's children's book 'The Education Of Little Tree' from a list of recommended titles on her website, blaming an "error" for including the work of a white supremacist. Carter, also known as Asa Earl Carter, is a member of the Ku Klux Klan and speechwriter for former Alabama governor George Wallace who wrote Wallace's infamous vow: "Segregation today! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!

K-Fed on 'Oprah Winfrey Show'?
As reported in Everybody Hates Marcus, a rumor has floated around that Kevin Federline, father of Britney Spears two kids, is scheduled to share his side of the story in a tell-all interview on Oprah's talk show. Just having K-Fed's name mentioned in the same breath as Oprah is not a good look on Winfrey's part, who tends to shy away from discussing tabloid fodder on her talk show. Let's cross our fingers that K-Fed shares his story on the 'Tyra Banks Show.'

Oprah's Thyroid Condition
Wifnrey went public with the fact that she has a thyroid condition that caused her to gain 20 pounds. After feeling sluggish, Winfey discovered the issue was an out-of-balance thyroid, which she first discussed in the October issue of 'O, The Oprah Magazine.' So next time you see Winfrey balloon in weight, remember she is eating that extra cheeseburger for a medical reason.

Vernon Winfrey Tell-All Book
The 74-year-old father of Oprah, Vernon, is writing a tell-all book about his daughter. "I was upset," stated Winfrey. "I won't say 'devastated,' but I was stunned. The last person in the world to be doing a book about me is Vernon Winfrey." Maybe because he Vernon will include such nuggets as "After all, Stedman doesn't bring anything to the table that Oprah needs." You tell em, pops!

South Africa School Allegations
On November 1, South African police arrested a former dormitory employee at Oprah's all-girl academy, Virginia Mokgobo. She was charged with assault, indecent assault and soliciting under-age girls to perform indecent acts. Winfrey flew down to to investigate allegations and gave a tear-jerking press conference this month which was broadcast on South African television. Certainly not the first time we have seen Oprah in tears, and judging by this year, it won't be the last time.
