Omg... I don't know who Marlen Cowpland is, but I feel like punching her in the face for doing that to her dog.

You can dye a dog's fur with vegetable dye, it won't hurt them. I haven't done it but I saw someone do a Maltese orange for Halloween with a little green topknot for a stem and thought it was hilarious. I certainly don't worry about the dignity of dogs -- not with my younger dog eating her own $hit all the time. What dignity?

Does anyone have an idea why most celebrities have small dogs? Okay, at least the majority of the female celebrities.
Celebs with dogs that do not fit in hand bags.
I can only think of Orlando Bloom right now.
And now... PLEASE.. don't tell me Paris started that trend with Tinkerbell?!

So they can carry them around and look cute.^
I'm not sure who started the current trend... probably Paris. She's not the first person to ever carry a tiny dog around, though... I know other celebrities have done it in the past. It just didn't become a "thing" until now.

Yeah, sure people have carried around small dogs earlier, just think of the Queen and her Corgis.
Well, I guess Paris is just good at making people believe what she does/says/carrys around is good and then it starts to be trendy.
Just think of "That's hot!". Not like she invented that phrase.
Another celeb with bigger-then-a-cat dogs is Courteney Cox. I think earlier this year there were paparazi pics of her, coco and a bunch of dogs.
I think she had a Dalmatian and a German Shepherd?

Maybe they have small dogs so they can take them along on planes???? I can take my little ones with me on a plane although I never have. My big ones would have to stay at home because I would never ship them with the cargo. That just seems too scary and unneccessary (unless you are moving etc.) And since I'm the one waaaay too attached to my dogs, I'd have to deal with my separation anxiety and leave them at home where they are safe. That's got to be better then risking traumatizing them! I mean, they are part of the family-they aren't just accessories. I hope the celebs with small dogs isn't just a trend/accessory because that's really just depressing.

Ease of tranport isn't the worst reason to get a small dog. If that was a big concern for me, I'd probably get a smaller dog too. The cargo hold is a dangerous situation for animals, and many do die in there. The airlines just recently had to release reports on the numbers of animals found dead in the cargo areas.

I heard that Sandra Bullock's dog died in an air plane cargo cuz the airline forgot to turn on the heater.

And how come there are only dogs here? What about cats and other animals? Is it just because dogs are easier to bring with you and easier to get to stay still for photograph, or because dragging a dog around with you everywhere is an easy way of showing what a nice person you are (the age-old publicity trick of patting dogs and shaking hands with small children in public, you know), or simply because many celebs are dog persons rather than cat persons?
