Black Parents Can Have White Kids Too!

Discussions on the heredity of phenotype, often focus upon whether Black parents can have a white child. More precisely, whether a single parent who self-identifies as a member of the U.S. Black endogamous group can have a child who looks so White (has such a European phenotype) that he or she has little choice in adulthood but to either self-identify as White (like Carol Channing) or to evade the question altogether (like Vin Diesel). Actor Wentworth Miller. Black father, white mother.



Randy Johnson. This man is 1/4th African American!



Natasha Hamilton from Atomic Kitten (UK Girlband) is half black (either half or 1/4th) - Anyway, everyone always assumed she was white, and I knew she was mixed, but none of my friends black or white believed me until she actually said it herself, lol.

It's fascinating to me as well! We are really dealing with the myth that "dark" or "non-white" genes always overwhelm "white" ones. Too many Americans (white, black and otherwise) are startled that "light" can come out of "dark" They've been led to believe that this is impossible except in freakish cases. You'll notice that in the anti-passing films, "Imitation of Life" and "Pinky," the "passing" figure is presented as a genetic freak born to Negroes and not as a descendant of whites.

I have no idea how Anna van Ravenstein identifies. Her father is white European and her mother Pat Cleveland has always been identified as black.

I have seen dark come out of light as well. I had 2 friends in highschool that everyone swore up and down they had black parents. They both had white parents and get this, the one girls parents were both blue eyed blondes! Her parents told her they knew they had both had a greatgrandparent or so that was either black or really dark hispanic backdground. Funny how genetics work!

I had a customer who was very light black. Drop dead gorgeous, could have easily been a movie star. She even had blue eyes, her 2 children were BLONDE haired and BLUED eyed.

One of my mom's coworkers recently had twins like the ones pictured above. Two little girls, one black and one white. I believe that the parents are both black.
