Ever worked as a movie extra?
Mark Wahlberg's new movie "The Shooter" is been filmed in Philly starting in two weeks and the casting company has put out a cattle call. I wished I lived in Philadelphia - I'd go down there and give it a try!
We are looking for men and women over age 18, both SAG and non-union, interested in being extras in the upcoming Paramount film, “SHOOTER”, starring Mark Wahlberg and Danny Glover.
The film is an action-adventure, directed by Antoine Fuqua (“Training Day”). Shooting will begin in the Philadelphia area on September 23, 2006.
Needed are men and women, over age 18, both SAG and NON-UNION, all ethnicities. Interested parties should mail a snapshot with all contact information on the back to:

I've worked as an extra and it is mind-numbingly dull.

Do you at least get a chance to say hi to the stars and get autographs? I think that's cool enough for me! I wish I were in that area, sounds pretty cool.

I was an extra on Dawson's Creek. It was the most boring 12 hours of my life. Katie and the rest were too stuck-up to speak to the lowly extras (we were informed not to stare, talk to or get close to the "stars"). Although, Joshua Jackson was VERY flirty with the girls. I personally ran smack into him running around a corner. He helped me up - and tried to talk to me - but I ran away. I still have the bruise from where I kicked myself in the ass for that.

My brothers friend worked on the set of Scooby Doo on the Gold Coast and he said that Sarah Michelle Gellar is very very tiny, but has an attitude and an ego to make up for it.

It is long hours, alotta "hurry up and wait". I bring knitting, and crossword puzzle books to pass time, but you always wind up meeting other folks from all different walks of life, and it's interesting meeting all the different extras. It's fascinating to see how movies are made, and everything that goes into them. I was an extra in "The BreakUp", worked a week overall. Vince Vaughn was actually really nice and talked to all the extras, however I don't know if he's always like that. That movie was filmed in Chicago where he grew up so he was asking different extras where they were from, etc. But there were very strict rules not to ask for autographs, only talk to the actors if they talk to you first, and if security saw anyone with a camera or cell camera, the extras would be thrown off set.
Since then I've worked on a few independent films in Chicago, and my pre-teen daughter works as an extra now as well. We just got done working as extras in a movie with Seann William Scott and Fred Armisen. Those guys were so nice, they would chat with us, and even ate lunch by us (There were about 12 - 20 extras on set that day). I had my cell camera with "just in case", security was laid back, way different the The Breakup. They talked to my daughter and congratulated her on having her first paying acting job and my daughter asked if she could get a photo with them, and they graciously agreed.
If anyone ever gets a chance to be an extra, it really is a neat experience, I feel very fortunate to have seen how movies are made and be a part of them. Also, the actors that we've worked with have been awesome, which isn't usually the case.

(for a kid ) but my bitch sister ruined our chances of getting into the movie cuz she fell asleep and they cant used that garbage in a movie (we were in an audience) and had to dress 80's; it was fun

Nope, but my friend was a serving wench in a movie being filmed in Comox, BC. 13th Warrior I think.
Yup, also known as 'Eaters of the Dead' look for a very slim, long haired strawberry blonde, with or without a mole on her face...that's her.

Haha! I love that show. I would have loved to have been an extra but unfortunately I lived in Texas. It's disappointing to hear that they were stuck up, but I'm not surprised. I used to visit DC forums and there were multiple reports from extras and locals that Michelle Williams in particular was a raving bitch.
