Steven Seagal,
whose movie career is proof that God is dead,
is actually not Steven Say-GALL,
but
Steven SEE-gul,
which makes him sound like a middle-aged Jewish comic
instead of a "kick-ass" "action" "star."

Bad actor, but good martial artist. Far better than Jean Claude van Damme.

Doesn't Natalie Portman originally have a really Jewish last name? Like Goldsteinburg?

Roy Fitzgerald and Bernie Schwartz became Rock Hudson and Tony Curtis. Kirk Douglas was Issur Danielovitch Demsky, though friends called him "Izzy". They didn't call him "Dizzy Izzy", unless they wanted a hard right to the jaw. The studios changed his name to Kirk. It became the family name.

Now here's the twists. When Micheal Keaton started acting, he was using his birth name of Micheal Douglas, but hasd to change it, because Micheal "Kirk" Douglas was already a member of the actor's union, and the guild won't allow more than one member to have the same name. Keaton should've called himself Micheal Kirk .

I found the motherlode of celebrity name changes.

http://www.celebrityalmanac.com/real.shtml

A sample:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar -- Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor, Jr.
Fred Astaire -- Frederick Austerlitz
Charles Bronson -- Charles Bunchinsky
Andrew Dice Clay -- Andrew Silverstein
Gloria Estefan -- Gloria Maria Fajardo
Dale Evans -- Frances Octavia Smith
Michael Landon -- Eugene Michael Orowitz
Stan Laurel -- Arthur Stanley Jefferson
Christopher Walken -- Ronald Walken

...though most of the list consists of names
from the "Golden Age of TV," i.e., Milton Berle,

There's actually 2 name games people play in H'wood
and the music industry.

1) Changing their names from something ethnic to
something bland and WASPY;
and ...

2) ...giving their kids names that are so unique (e.g. Apple Paltrow,
Zowie Bowie) that the kid pretty much HAS to change it when s/he
turns 18.
What other dumbass parents named their kids
after flowers/seasons/favorite drugs/furniture...?

It's the truth, a future drug addiction or therapy from their parents
Their names dont help the situation either.
