Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
would I get one? No
I think they tend to look skanky.
But I do know some people with them, and their tats are cool on them. They "fit" them well.
But so many people end up looking like morons. Especially posers.

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
I personally would not have a tattoo. I do not have a problem with them on other people though; it is their body, whatever they choose to do with it.
Some people view their bodies as a blank canvas, whilst others view theirs as a work of art in itself. I myself believe in neither of the two, I simply am not interested in decorating my body for any reason.
I must admit that they can be rather sensual on an attractive lady, but I think that daft, meaningless body art is pointless and unnecessary. (Winnie the pooh, tweety pie etc) I believe a tattoo should have some deep thought put into it, it will be with you for the rest of your life after all.

I despise tattoos, and I would never get one.

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
I have two and I have mixed feelings about them. They quite simply don't look as nice as they did when I was younger and had them done (mostly because of my body, not the tats themselves), but they are original art and very meaningful to me - they are really a part of me now after so many years.
I think tats can be wonderful, but very few people put much thought into them and they end up with something trendy and rediculous. I particularly dislike tats in languages that the person doesn't speak - if you don't know FOR SURE what your tat says, you are a fool!

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
it can go either way. they can be tacky and nasty, or they can be beautiful and have meaning. it depends on the person, the design, the placement, and if the tattoo is well made.
i think most of them are tacky. but then i think most people are a bit tacky and if it shows in the couch they choose for their living room, it's going to show in their tattoo as well.
oh, and if i never see another chick with a flower, a cartoon character, heart, star or, worse of all, a fucking butterfly tattooed on their ankle or shoulder blade, i will die a happy woman. same goes for guys with asian characters or pseudo-tribal tattoos.

I almost think it's more unique to NOT have a tattoo these days. Glad I never got sucked into the whole tramp stamp craze.

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
My ex housemate got a tattoo of tigger banging pooh bear up the ass on his chest with his gfs name on it. Thats just stupid i mean i already have bets that those two will break up sometime in the next 2 years. Firstly, never get a tattoo with your bf/gf name on it - celeb inspiration - Angelina Jolie and the Billy Bob Tattoo/ Johnny Depp and the Winona Forever Tattoo. Secondly, do i even have to say how stupid it is to tattoo lame ass cartoons in compromising positions on your body? omg my ex housemates are stupid!!!

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
i also have two. my first one is ~ 10 years old. I started thinking about getting a tattoo when i was 16, i finally got it with 20. the one i choose means has a huge meaning for me, that's why i choose it. same goes for the second one which i had done a couple of years later.
edit: having a tattoo of your partner's name is pretty naive imo. and i also don't like cartoon tattoos but that's just my choice

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
I plan on getting 1 or 2 large, extensive tattoos.. nothing seen above the shoulders or below the elbow so they'll be easily hidden..
But i'll design it myself and probably keep tweaking it for a year or 2 so the design sits with me enough that I know i'll want to keep it.

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
I think it looks terrible when someone is dressed to the nines, gorgeous dress, cute strappy shoes, and they have tattoos on their feet or arms or other exposed areas. Charlize Theron has one on her foot, it is really distracting when she's all dressed up.

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
I have one and have plans for another when I reach my goal weight. The new tattoo would be my sort of gift to myself for succeeding. The one I have now is on my back, and the new one would be too, and it would be below any point that you could see it even in a formal gown.
The new one will be artwork by my sister that I will have tattooed on me, her signature and all. I already have the design and I love it.

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
I have two and like them a lot--mostly it's because they're not too visible (one on my left hip and the other on my lower back). I think body tattoos, depending on location and in moderation, are very sexy. I'm trying to design a third one that has a lot of signficance for me because it represents my name in chinese characters.
My eyebrows also are tattooed because a) they're non-existent otherwise and b) my inability to draw them correctly prompted my mom to take me to a cosmetologist (sp?). I was 16 then and adamantly protested the idea, but am really grateful for them now. They look so natural that people are constantly surprised when I tell them about my eyebrows.

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
I'm not really bothered if someone has one or two discreet, meaningful tattoos, but I think that celebrities who have multiple tattoos of a bunch of random, meaningless shit have definitely taken it too far. Especially when, like Angelina, they have large, visible tattoos that have to be digitally retouched in their movies, costing the studio thousands of dollars. I also think it's tacky when stupid celebrities get some random, idiotic tattoo and then try to pass it off as being really "deep" (like Lindsay Lohan's 'breathe' tattoo).

Re: Tattoos: To Ink Or Not To Ink?
I have three, which were all designed by me and have personal meaning to me. I really couldn't care less if others find them "tacky" or "skanky" because I didn't get them to please or asthetically entertain other people. And while I agree that chicks that get butterflies above their cooter just for the sake of, well, having a butterfly above their cooter are quite pathetic, tattooing is a true art, and a beautiful one at that. And guys with sleeve tattoos? Well that's just effing hot.
ETA - Tigger banging Pooh? Dude, why? Just... ew, why?
