Default Last days of dead celebrities

Quote:
May 15, 2006 -- WHEN it comes to dying, the rich and famous are just as undignified as the rest of us. In his new book, "The Last Days of Dead Celebrities," Mitchell Fink reveals how Orson Welles was trying to finish off a script when the Grim Reaper called - he was found dead in bed with a typewriter sitting on his bloated stomach. Wracked with cancer, weak but Viagra-fueled rocker Warren Zevon convinced an old gal pal, Susan Jaffy, to help him act out one last sex fantasy. But John Lennon didn't even have the comfort of his wife the night before he died, as he and Yoko Ono slept in separate rooms like an old couple might. John Denver was quite chirpy just before he zoomed off in his doomed plane after playing golf, telling onlookers: "Good afternoon, gentlemen. Wasn't this a great day?" And talk about inconsiderate - Margaux Hemingway left friends with a horrible surprise when she took her life by popping downers in her sweltering apartment. They broke in to find her decomposing body. Fink says stars have the same feelings as ordinary folk at the end - they're "frantic and numb, fearful and gallant."

I know I shouldn't laugh but the title of the book left me in stitches...

Haven't read the book, but the subject fascinates me.

Some of their stories are really sad -- the guy who played "Alfalfa" on
the ancient "Lil Rascals" series ended up killed in a domestic dispute,
whereas William Holden (from Bridge on the River Kwai) bled to death
when, drinking alone in a hotel room, he passed out and struck his head
on the corner of a table...there was too much alcohol in his system to
allow his blood to coagulate, so he bled to death.

Quote:
Trivia: Holden was convicted of manslaughter in Italy, in the 60's, following an automobile accident in which the driver of a small car was killed.
That quote is from the above link.

Patsy Cline eaten by an alligator? Never heard that one. Where her plane crashed is far from gator territory! Didn't know about John Denver' head either. Oh my.

Looks like this one'll be a bestseller. There's apparently something salacious about Milton Berle that some site won't give in detail, but considering his rep as having the biggest dick in Hollywood, I'm guessing it involves his king dong.

Patsy Cline was eaten by an alligator???? Whoa! What a way to go!

And I also had never heard about John Denver either.....

I read a book about John Lennons last day and according to the book I read (cannot remember the name) that he and Yoko were basically on the verge of divorce and the both of them were doing drugs all day and night....so I guess I would believe that he didn't sleep in the same bedroom as Yoko the night before he died.

Sounds like a good book!

What is it about people who want to know the morbid details of death? I have always had that fascination. Want to know all the details, no matter how disgusting...

Being something of a Patsy enthusiast I had heard that they were only able to id the body and assorted body parts by her shoes and earrings. But I seriously doubt she was a gator snack, Dyersburg Tennessee is a long, long way from any alligator habitat. Poor Patsy is buried in a grave with her married name of "Virginia Dick" on the tombstone, whatta way to go through eternity!

I wonder if the book goes back to early Hollywood because some of the early famous addicts and bizarre deaths rival anything happening today. Like Lupe Velez committed suicide by taking pills but the pills made her puke. She slipped while puking, hit her head on the toilet and drowned in the bowl. Ugh!
