Hollywood's Top Sham Marriages

The Tom and Katie thing has reminded me of that other high profile sham marriage between Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford. That's the one they took out a full page in the London Times to insist was on the level, but they never bothered to sue anyone for libel concerning the gay rumours.

Both are now remarried, so that probably makes their current araangements shams as well. Cindy's hubby, NYC restraunteur Rande Gerber is known to cheat on his supermodel wife, and Cin doesn't mind. Probably because they lead seperate lives.

So that raises the question of how many more Hollywood marriages are shams. Heard any rumours??

I've heard a lot of rumors. Some are facades to provide beards/merkins
for various stars (Philippe/Witherspoon), some are just marriages that continue
in name only (Spielberg/Capshaw).

As far as gay/beard marriages go...

I've always been suspicious of those marriages to obvious he-men
who build their bodies to sculpted perfection -- chiseled abs,
absolutely no fat, etc. Real men are beer-swilling slobs and we
have a bit more insulation around our abs--we don't belong to the
Cult of Beauty...

i can't help to point out that kelly, just like kate, claimed that when she was young she always dreamed of marrying john. she also had a poster on her wall of john and used to kiss it at night. that just sounds so scripted to me.

I have to disagree about Reese and Ryan. I have a friend who has a cousin that is good friends with Reese's brother. The only problems they have is that Hollywood's idea of marriage isn't the same as theirs. They believe it is for life and they do love one another.

I think that marriage will be up there with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodworth's.

possible! i mean, these rumours about ryan have been going around for years now. if there's no truth to them, why do they persist? i dunno. i think it is very possible. although, i would like to hope in my heart of hearts that they do have a great marriage. i have just read a million blind vices about this guy, plus seen some interesting pics along the way that make me think otherwise!
