her skin isn't that dark to begin with though... it varies between pics and
lighting settings. the blue hues in that pic probably canceled out her warm
flesh tones.
edit to add:
same pic, red and yellow hues added back into the pic, didn't make her skin any darker:

The tone difference is creepy. Even if they didn't do it on purpose, they should have rethought their pic choice.

Sometimes lighting washes out this complexion. Or she could have lightened from being out of the sun during winter? (Although I think mags usually do photoshoots 2 or more months ahead.) But they're right to point out the preference for skin bleaching in India, that might be part of it. Was this the U.S. VF edition?
