Her image is manufactured to appeal to tweens and early teens. I think she has a lot of fangirls in the 10-15 age span, probably... and in a way, if I had a daughter I'd rather see her idolizing Avril Lavigne at that age than, say, The Pussycat Dolls.
I still despise her, though. She seems like an all-around awful person.
