Sput - I wore the first pair of blue shoes in high school. The style was to wear your bell bottoms (really a smaller flair) over the shoe and the jeans touched the floor. The shoe was not allowed to be visible. When you sat down and crossed your legs your shoe would show. If your jeans even showed one inch of heel, you'd hear "floods over, floods over" ten times a day.
