Default Michael J. Fox Good Housekeeping June 2011

Hereís what the 49-year-old actor had to share:
On coping with Parkinsonís and his attitude in life: ďYou know, thereís a rule in acting called ĎDonít play the result.í If you have a character whoís going to end up in a certain place, donít play that until you get there. Play each scene and each beat as it comes. And thatís what you do in your life: You donít play the result. So you get diagnosed with Parkinsonís, and you can play the result. You can go right to, ĎOh, Iím sick.í It took me seven years to figure out that Iím not at the result. Iím not at the result till the end. So letís not play it. Itís not written yet. And so thatís the attitude I take in life. Another expression is ĎAct as if.í Act as if itís the way you want it to be, and itíll eventually morph into that.Ē
On Back to the Future: ďIf Iím changing the channel, sometimes Iíll see them, and Iíll pause for a second. But I love that people still see it. Itís funny that a film about multigenerational relationships, characters over a span of generations, has become a film thatís been popular over a span of generations. In fact, weíre almost at the place in the future that Marty went to. Fast approaching, and there are no flying cars.Ē
On the takeaway he wants his kids to have: ďLife is what you put into it and how much you take out of it. You put in more than is expected, and you take out less than you want. Everything is cause and effect. If you donít move, nothing will move with you, and nothing will move toward you. And so that involves risk and also resiliency. But I think I just really want my kids to enjoy life as much as I do.Ē

Still really admire this guy's courage. Glad he's still around.

Once upon he was just a kid living down the block from my uncle. Who knew he would become the one and only M.J. Fox. He's totally earned every bit of respect attached to his name. IMO

He's always seemed to be such a down to earth normal guy. And bravo to him being so strong in the face of such a horrible disease.

    Here's what I wrote last May 2010:

He was funny because he was yelling bravo really loudly at the end of the ballet (Cinderella).

Seems like everybody has always had nothing but nice things to say about him. Says a lot about a person.
