I once took my grandmother's sister to see a male strip show because she said she's always wanted to. Well, the first guy comes out and when he gets down to his g-string she says, "Well, he got a slop jar full of roots, don't he!"

The funniest southernism for penis was "root." Always sounded weird and hilarious to me. Downright dirty and lecherous too, I can't even bring myself to say it somehow.

Now this here is a great-sounding homage to southern rock and I had the good fortune to see them live at The Fillmore in San Francisco. I included the lyrics below for a good ol' southern story.

Drive-by Truckers

Dropped acid, Blue Oyster Cult concert, fourteen years old,
And I thought them lasers were a spider chasing me.
On my way home, got pulled over in Rogersville Alabama, with a half-ounce of weed and a case of Sterling Big Mouth.
My buddy Gene was driving, he just barely turned sixteen.
And I'd like to say, "I'm sorry", [but I ain't sorry for a damn thing I did in my life]
but we lived to tell about it
And we lived to do a whole lot more crazy, stupid shit.

And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Molly Hatchet
With 38 Special and the Johnny Van Zant Band.

One night when I was seventeen, I drank a fifth of vodka, on an empty stomach, then drove over to a friend's house.
And I backed my car between his parents' Cadillacs without a scratch.
Then crawled to the back door and slithered through the key hole, and sneaked up the stairs
And puked in the toilet.
I passed out and nearly drowned but his sister, DD, pulled me out.

And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Molly Hatchet
And the band that I was in played "The Boy's are Back in Town".

Skynyrd was set to play Huntsville, Alabama, in the spring of 77, I had a ticket but it got cancelled.
So, the show, it was rescheduled for the "Street Survivors Tour".
And the rest, as they say, is history.

So I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw Ozzy Osbourne with Randy Rhoads in 82
Right before that plane crash.
And I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd but I sure saw AC/DC
With Bon Scott singing, "Let There Be Rock Tour".

With Bon Scott singing, LET THERE BE ROCK!

Now that does sound really feminine, delicate and lovely. Gives the impression it's flower-fresh!

I have GOT to start using that. That's it, I now have a "peablossom" too.

I'm curious where in Mississippi? Cause I live in N. MS just south of memphis and nobody gives two shits about the interracial couples here. Or if they do, they don't show it. I see interracial couples all the time, especially when I used to work at the casinos. Of all the negative comments about that I can honestly say I heard just as many, if not more, from blacks than whites.

But as a general rule, gays are still going to hell in a handbasket. Even still, most everyone my age or younger...and a good portion who are older...don't think this at all.

In general think I (and others) get way more shit here from people who find out I'm not religious or Republican than I see people getting for being black OR gay. Unless it comes up they usually assume I'm on the same page as them.

Don't know which part he's from, that's just what I've heard from both of them, that they don't dare travel there together.

The small town that my sister lives in is of course, ass backwards, too. The women (girls) there will date/marry/have kids with a black man, but will not go to a black doctor. Now where is the fucking logic in that one!?

Why don't Southern girls make good hookers?

Because they spend all their time writing Thank You notes.

A white girl I know here who dates a black guy has on several occasions been verbally (and once physically) assaulted by a black woman/women. So much so that about the only place they can go where the majority of people are black and NOT be hassled is church where his mother also goes. And even there she still gets the occasional hostile glare. Anywhere else they hang out in this area (again, Mississippi) no one bats an eye, much less fucks with them, even if it's somewhere where he's the sole black person in the joint, they are treated politely and for the most part, with respect. Yes there is racism here. But people would be surprised at which direction it's coming from nowadays more often than not.
