I've been to Washington (mostly Seattle and the surrounding area) many times for business in past years and some for pleasure and I've always loved it. I seriously considered moving there exactly 10 years ago but opted to move back east.

I guess I've been lucky, because it's clear and sunny more than rainy anytime I've been there and the people have always been friendly and upbeat. The Pacific Northwest is unbelievably beautiful as well.

I wish there was a way for you and your friend to go and check out the area (as well as other areas in the country that you might like) before up and moving there. If you don't like it, it might be very difficult to leave for awhile. You've got some time - really do your homework because cross country moves - I've done it 3 times now - are a big commitment. You don't want to be trapped in some place that you hate. Good luck.

    I've been there several times.
    It rains...A LOT.
