Yea, I agree. I'm sure she didn't say it to demean anyone.

I'll be honest--I have never seen such beautiful photo's of Lebanon. As an American, and one who remembers some of the conflicts you spoke of, it puts a very human spin on the country and it is great to see it thriving!

    I really liked the pictures!

Which (as I am sure you appreciate) is like some poster here lumping all of Europe together.

MrN's FIL used to work in The Lebanon, recommended it highly and this was some years ago - but then he's a Greek Cypriot who lived through the British occupation of Cyprus....

I have always loved Lebanese/other middle eastern food.

As far as impressions go--I didn't know much about Lebanon till a friend dated and then married a Lebanese student several years (>a decade) ago. My idea of Beirut was some kind of bombed out hell-hole until this Lebanese guy, Hisham, told me that Beirut was a beautiful, cosmopolitan city sometimes referred to the Paris of the middle east. He told me about all the wonderful things they used to do and places they went before things got bad. I am so glad that part of the past is over.

Another place I would love to go is Turkey.

There is a Lebanese restaurant around the corner from me and they make the most amazing pickled turnips! I think about them all the time.

My in-laws are Lebanese. For reasons I don't know they couldn't wait to get out of that country and into the U.S.
    Great pics.

I only ever had lebanese food once when i went to stay with my in-laws in Mass, and I had this weird flatbread thing. I was like wtf someone's given me a naan bread with spicy sand in it. Was not impressed. In saying that, I'm sure there are things in lebanese cuisine I would really enjoy hehe. Pretty pics Suzan
