Well, DD is into princesses right now so I figure one day at Disney won't hurt. But we went a couple of years ago and it was pretty lame. So many of the rides are so dated. It's a Small World? Mr. Toad's Wild Ride? These and so many others are just lame.

We really enjoy the Universal parks a lot more. We've never been to Sea World or Animal Kingdom, so we will probably visit those next time.

I wish we could squeeze Orlando and the SW FL islands (Sanibel, Captiva) into one trip, but I don't think there's a way to do them both justice in a week, or even 10 days. If it was just DH and I we could probably do it, but this would be DD's first time in Orlando and we don't want to shortchange the parks.

Atlantis is acutally great for kids. They have a Discovery Channel Camp which my daughter loved. It is big, but make a reservation for the tower closest to the activities you want to do. We have also gone to Aruba for years and love it. The whole Natalee thing was a terrible abberation. We've gone for 25 years and always had wonderful experiences.

I like going to Seaside, FL, but it's not the place for people who want something "exciting." It's a low-key beach town with a traditional "town square" and market... brick streets, everyone riding bikes, tennis courts and pools, a day camp for kids, a grassy ampitheater where they show movies on Saturday nights, etc. I love it because it reminds me of the movie "Pleasantville".

I also really enjoy Disney and the surrounding attractions. Universal Studios is probably my favorite. It's fascinating.

If you're interested in Florida, I heard Amelia Island is great fun. Ritz Carlton is on the island.. probably not wallet friendly.. but they do have a kids program at the resort with activities that might be fun.

The island itself has an array of family friendly activities..

And there are other lodging options, too. I hope you guys have a great vacation.
