^^Don't know anything about a chair.....

I guess I am simple, but I don't mind it being so huge (at least right now) because I don't have to deal with crowds AND small kids. If its just me, I am fine. Just glad to be getting out of my neighborhood for a few days and seeing some sand beneath my feet.

I've been there about 5 times, and I like it very much. I've stayed in the Royal Towers and the Cove (which I really liked), and even though it's a very large resort, it never felt overcrowded or chaotic. There were plenty of quiet places, the beaches weren't crowded and the restaurants are great.

I would recommend going next door to the Ocean Club for dinner at least one night, to Dune for dinner, and the Dune Bar for drinks.

I was there a year ago for 6 nights at Royal Towers - and the place is wonderful! The meal plan was INSANE - things such as lobster and steak and all the expensive dishes are included - I had kinda figured originally you'd have limited choices at the restaurants, but you can order anything off the menu. The Marketplace for the breakfast buffet is amazing too - they have just about every possible thing on earth. Or at least it seems that way

You can definitely tell when the cruise ships dock, it becomes much more crowded - BUT they only came in twice while I was there and they were gone by late afternoon.

It's a great place. But the food is pricy.
Make sure you bring lots of your own bottled water. They charge over $8.00 a bottle for water.

We've been three times and LOVED it. I would go again in a second. It's very spread out though, so bring your walking shoes. Do you scuba dive Lynnie? Also, they now have the dolphin breeding/encounter program there. When Katrina destroyed New Orleans, Atlantis rescued the dolphins from the aquarium there. Next door is One and Only Ocean Club (remember Casino Royale?) which has the Jean George Vogelright restaurant. There is also a Nobu on site as well as about 7 other restaurants. The water slides are amazing for young and old. My favorite was Leap of Faith which is nearly vertical and then slides through tubes in the shark lagoon. I am soooo jealous!

^^Atlantis has it's own Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant now too....Cafe Martinique. They also have a Mesa if you're a Bobby Flay fan.

The Vongerichten restaurant at The Ocean Club is Dune, as I mentioned above. It's a must, try to get there, even if you only get to the bar for a drink. Great spot.

Enjoy this sounds like a great trip, Lynnie. Enjoy some time away from the kiddos. Have a couple of drinks for me!!

Had a GREAT TIME at Atlantis. It was awesome!!

Happen to be there during the 'Bahamian Intl Film Festival'...even got to walk the red carpet! It was so fun! Saw some (allegedly) famous directors and Johnny Depp was rumored to have been there (didn't see him, sorry Mrs V!) and a few other famous folk. On our flight back, Lorraine Bracco was on it. She seemed very nice. Though she sat in First Class, I did NOT. haha

The resort was truly great. Was big, yes. But not so big that it wasn't negotiable or overly huge. We did the dolphin experience (got to know a dolphin named Sheree up close and personal!) and I even won money at the casino. Had a blast on the beach (waves were enormous) and went down the big slide(s)! But what hub and I loved the most, and I know this will sound funny, but was the 'lazy river'. Its over a mile long and take over a half hour to complete. Soo fun!

Already trying to figure out when we can go back, though with the kids. Because we know they would love it too.

That's so great, I am so pleased that you had a good time. It really is a very neat place.

^Yes, went down the slides! The BIG one and the tube slide--the one that goes through the aquarium. There were sharks sitting on top of the tube that you go through--it was hilarious.
