I realize, I mean for decor inspiration
I realize, I mean for decor inspiration
this place is so period piece!
It looks like Mike Brady designed it.
That first bed looks like a white clam.
Into the sunrise. The sunset is sad to me….it only means the night is coming.
egad, I hated this stuff so much the first time I still can't really look at it and feel comfortable. No wonder I grew up clinically depressed. I used to have wistful dreams of white, airy Victorian rooms with huge windows!!
*bump* thanks to the thread about the place in SLO.
I am from the American CIA and I have a radio in my head. I am going to kill you.
The Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo- Tackiest hotel ever?
which for some reason is in the 'World' Forum. To just contrast and compare the decor atrocities between the two hotel/motels.
I personally prefer the Gobbler since it is all about late sixties/early seventies horrors, rather than all kinds of horrors like that Madonna Inn..cluttered kitsch from many eras.
*I have to admit I love the Gobbler in all of it's seventies horror. I would LOVE to have a house like this-kind of a Brady-splitlevel/Gobbleresque thing with all of the decor of the Gobbler-kind of like a live in museum of the worst of that time.
-Shag carpeting not only on the floors but climbing the walls and covering ledges, plants spilling over from macrame hangers, smoked brown glass, plastic chairs, horrid wood paneling/stone wall accents...weird metal scrolling on walls and as railings...It is just so bad it is good!
This trailer was built in 1962..and definitely has some of the beginning trends of that era...but still more rooted in the early sixties and not yet the full blown horror of the late sixties/early seventies..but there are signs of that in some of the lamps, mirrors, fixtures, etc.
I kind of love it. I think I need help.
Not bitching, but if a thread is moved to another forum, would it be asking too much for the person who moved it just to make a little note 'moved from x to y because of z' ..y'know?
Just so we know why and know if we did something wrong?(not necessarily for this thread, since I get it and all..but maybe just as a matter of record?)
If not, then fine. Just asking and wondering about it and all..since it would end any speculation...
I still say the loss of the Gobbler was a real loss to our cultural heritage. Seriously, this thing could have stood as a monument to a moment of time in our nation's history!!
It should have been saved dammit.
^ Well, it seemed like a thread on a hotel would better suit the Travel forum than the Home one (all the other hotel threads are in here, or should be). Sorry, I would have left an explanation if I thought it wasn't clear.

I am just sayin' ya know. Especially since the little blurb when they are moved could actually help people in avoiding the same mistakes, especially new people and all. And those of us who are just dense at times alot too(no I ain't naming names!! )
Just talking about a little blurb or something as in 'was in x, now here in y cause of z' or something, assuming it is not a major pain in the ass to do it since I do not keep track of how often it happens or how much of a pain it would be to do it-never been a mod at any board so I really don't know..it was just an idea.
I think I would be a bitchy mod and could possibly go power crazy and all OCD..like a certain former mod did here unfortunately..and we all know who that was-bless her heart and all(I did not have the hate for her that so many did/still do) . At least I can admit I would be an ass most likely!
*chugs some boxed wine*
Click on the link below to take of "tour" of this groovy motel. The comments are hilarious!
Mods, can you move this to the "Little Big World" section for me, please? Thanks!
Oh wow, I want to live in that place. It looks like so much fun! I wish it were still operational. I don't want to give anything away, but "turkey carpeting". lol
Gross, put it away. You could dress beautifully but you gotta be Miss Granny Panty Whore.
Life is a hell of a thing to happen to a person.
