I'm glad it had its bright spots, Grimm. My guess is that now that you've done your bf's thing you can do your thing in your next vacation. Hopping from one place to the next just to tick them off a list doesn't sound too appealing to me either. I see it a lot with tourists who take cruises to the Greek islands or even do DIY holidays where they plan to spend a day tops on each island. They end up spending most of the time on the connecting ships or herded from one place to the rest looking so tired...
What if Superman is psychotic and everyone can see that he's Clark Kent but they just play along not to set him off?

I'd love an Alaska cruise (small boat) to see the grand perspective from the water. Norway, too, and maybe some of the great rivers. But those floating cities that hop from island to island aren't my thing. Part of what I like about traveling is figuring out laundry and food on my own, and sitting on a porch somewhere beautiful for hours (and throwing peanuts at the cruise tourists coming on land for their trinkets.)

I did the Canadian Maritimes on a Carnival ship and a three-day to Ensenada on Royal Caribbean. I actually preferred Carnival, although the passenger demographic left something to be desired. What a tacky bunch.

The Carnival Victory's drinks were so watered down it wasn't even funny. Had to drink at the martini bar to get the strong stuff. Good food, but obnoxious teens ruined everything. I had a twin cabin to myself. Got a deal on the Internet. Now that I don't drink, can't think of a reason to go on a cruise.

Good point. Boozing, often to excess, is a big part of the cruising "culture" these days, mainly because its where the profits are. Also the casino. I can see how non-drinkers/gamblers would find it very tedious. There are certain cruise lines *cough*Carnival*cough* which have a bad reputation for drunken rednecks partying 24/7 and being generally obnoxious. While Bubba and Brandene are getting wasted in the hot tubs their feral offspring are running amok everywhere else. Spring Break cruises deserve their own special circle of hell LOL

Just because you're offended doesn't mean you're right.

Couldn't agree with you more A*O. If only I didn't have champagne tastes on a beer wallet. I'd definitely go with one of the upscale cruise lines. The Victory was actually nicely decorated with acceptable levels of food, but they nickeled and dimed you to death, some of the crew were rude and the crowd was beyond obnoxious.
