Same here - although our tile & carpeted areas are split differently since we only have one storey.

Plus, in the tile area, we track mud in etc etc so its a difficult balance. I'm looking forward to having a porch once we complete the house where we can leave our muddy boots.

It can be a urban/country thing too, since when I lived in the town I was a shoe remover, but now don't.....

I'm a "shoes off at the damn door" kinda gal. Always have been - well, ever since I got my own place. Plus, with kids, it is so much easier IF you train them to leave them at the door. My niece is THE WORLD'S most creative loser of fucking shoes! and I just want to scream "IF YOU'D LEAVE THEM AT THE FUCKING DOOR, THIS WOULDN'T HAPPEN!". Almost without fail, EVERY TIME she's hear, she loses a damn shoe!

I'm usually an I don't Care type of person, but I just had a flashback to something that happened to us a few years ago.

Some people were visiting us, and they had their shoes on the whole time. At one point, we are posing for a group picture in my living room. One of the guys visiting us, I swear to God, slowly got up on his tippy toes for every shot, so that he would appear taller. The guy was already tall and had at least 5 years on me, and it was one of the most juvenile things I ever saw. After they left, I noticed that that idiot had left some kind of black grease stain where he had been standing. I don't know how he didn't track it all over the place -- just in that one spot. Every time I come across that photo accidentally, I think about what a knucklehead he was.

Y'all trying to woo Grim back with the shoes off talk again? I have too many fucking pairs of shoes to house them at the entrance, although I generally wear slippers in the winter and FLIP FLOPS in the summer once I'm at home (even if I'm too lazy to change out of my work clothes), but I wear those outside as the need suits, so it probably defeats the intent.

We have timber floors upstairs and down so wearing shoes can be very noisy apart from anything else. I have "indoors" flip flops (Havaianas, natch) or just go barefoot. Rarely socks as I hate having hot feet.

Sock are a must as I hate having frostbitten feet.

I love Friday evenings as I clean the kitchen floor knowing that it'll stay clean for the two days that the asshat is away working.

I love socks. The temps here vary so much throughout the day and it's cold in the mornings and evenings, even if it's 100 during the day.

My body is weird. I can't regulate my temp according to the outside temp. I'm either always too cold or too hot.

i can't wear socks indoors. i start to get foot claustrophobia. i can wear them with shoes of course but even then i will wear the thinnest possible socks for the temperature outside. i hate the feeling of thick socks.
the minute i get home i have to kick my shoes and socks off. if it's really cold, slippers are the most i can handle.

You have foot and wrist claustrophobia I have pajama claustrophobia. I can't stand to wear pajamas to bed. I'll wear them around the house in the evening, but I can't sleep in full pajamas. Just a t shirt for me.

I agree,Effie. There is no way I would ever ask a guest to remove their shoes in my house. I have two door mats they have to pass through and I can mop and vaccum and carpet clean if need be. Okay, maybe I hire it done.

    oh, i have that too.
the thought of going to sleep with shorts or pants or something on my lower half makes me anxious. i can handle at most a t-shirt and comfy undies. i wear yoga pants/leggings at home in the evening or weekend mornings but when i go to bed, they come off.

i think i just hate the feeling of tight, uncomfortable clothes or too many layers and since i'm in bed i'm already 'wearing' blankets and that's all i need.

I have wood laminate at all my main doors, so it's not much of an issue anymore, but I do have times when I have shoes in the house. I had my yard shoes on and came into the kitchen to get a drink, then went back outside. I have my everyday shoes, which sit at the front door, then my work shoes, which I do west upstair to my bedroom, cuz that's where I keep them.

Otherwise, everyone keeps their shoes at the front door. It's a fucking pike of shoes which annoy me on a daily basis.
