There is something going around on facebook where people assign numbers to their friends, and the friends tell that number of things about themselves.

A woman I know just posted this as one of her things:
    6. I don’t eat anything that is white…especially mayo, sour cream and cottage cheese…makes me want to throw up if it’s even on my plate.

Bread? Rice? Pasta? Potato? I've never heard of this No White stuff before. Could it be the latest trendy fad?

No - these are people who get grossed out by white things. It's not for any purpose.

I don't know about the bread & rice - good question. Potatoes, I don't really see as white.

I don't eat white bread or white rice - well, I'd eat them at a restaurant but at home it's all wholemeal - but I love feta, ricotta and ice cream so I have no aversion to the colour white just the white processed versions of perfectly yummy brown foods.

I agree. It's ridiculous to exclude yummy nom noms based on color. Therefore, I have no choice but to examine the situation for possible psychological reasons.

I won't eat anything that is either cobalt blue or metallic green.

Yes, if I have to look up the color in Google, then I won't eat a food in that color.

I don't know... the white thing is weird but I won't eat anything that's grey. I suffered when I went to an Ethiopian restaurant. The injera just grossed the hell out of me. It was grey! Who wants to eat grey bread? Wasn't that great when I tried it either.

My dad has a huge issue with consistency. He won't touch anything that wobbles. Jello, pannacota, creme brulee, puddings, if it wobbles he won't eat it and he doesn't want anyone near him eating it either, it grosses him out that much.

But the one who takes the cake is an aunt of mine. She is insanely afraid of olives. It goes beyond not eating them, if she suspects that you may have olives in your fridge she doesn't want to set foot in your house. She closes her eyes when near the olive counter at the supermarket. If she's at a restaurant her family stresses to the waiters a million times not to bring anything with olives to their table, there are times she's had a full blown panic attack. Didn't help that a few years back her son was hospitalised with a perforated intestine after swallowing a freaking olive pit.
What if Superman is psychotic and everyone can see that he's Clark Kent but they just play along not to set him off?

Ah, I'm a consistency person too. I hate, hate, HATE coconut shavings. Bounty bars are like a hell to me. I've tried eating one before and just no, I can't do it. Feel constantly sick. But I do love things that wobble. You've made me want pannacota now...

I have the same issue with texture. I'm sure cottage cheese is delicious, but when I've tried to eat it, it made me gag because of the lumps. Same with tapioca pudding, my attempt at eating the little pearls made me dry heave.
