The whole school dinner thing where everyone had to attend and clap for the "most popular" - that was the most irritating. Our schools would never ever endorse such an elitist thing. That just encourages kids to be focused on their looks and hello, bullying anyone? It's basically the schools who do the bullying. Super, super odd.
One thing that also baffled me is that you can travel for 3 days and you reach a completely different climate zone, yet everything is the same. The same fastfood joints, the same malls, little boxes on the hillside and they're all made out of ticky-tacky and they all look just the same. I mean, it's like a major culture shock to Americans that they have In'n'Out on the West Coast.
If I travel for an hour in teeny tiny Germany, I barely understand the dialect, the food is super exotic, the architecture is completely different and I can't find my way around.
