Default Best place for last minute travel deals?

My husband just said we should take the kids on vacation over Spring Break, which is terrific but it's less than 6 weeks away. An old coworker of mine used to be able to find last minute deals to fantastic places for dirt cheap. (He once took a TransAtlantic cruise to Denmark for $500.) Sadly, he retired and we lost touch. Does anyone know of any sites that might be useful?

There are plenty of deals, Expedia springs to mind, but check and double check the small print. They will almost certainly be "use it or lose it" with no flexibility whatsoever. Also, be realistic about what you'll get for your bargain and watch out for "extras". A cruise is a great idea, call Carnival and see what they have on their spring break Caribbean trips

Travelzoo.com has a weekly hot deals email they send out.
skyauction.com I actually buy timeshare certificates there which are 7 days at a time share for $250-300. They aren't 5 star resorts and aren't available at peak times, but if you have flexibility, they are a great deal. I get one every couple of years or so.

Good luck in finding a Spring Break deal. Most places are booked.

Travelzoo and Priceline, I've always had good luck with Priceline.

Thanks everyone. I'm checking all of the sites mentioned. We all agreed we'd each come up with a place and pitch it to each other on Sunday. I'm pulling for the Smoky Mountains because we could drive there and cabins are reasonable. Found this place:

fgg, beautiful place! I didn't really consider Franklin. Is there much to do there for families?

We've used airbnb recently. We got a great deal on a house for 9 of us. Look at photos carefully though. I could tell the one our friend chose for all of us wasn't really clean, and it wasn't. We've had better luck other times.

    Effie, thank you!

I friend booked a flight today from Hamburg (Germany) to New York for less then 550 Dollar. The flight is in 4 days. I think he used skyscanner. Probably I should also book I flight to somewhere. I read my horoscope here and it told me I should go on an advneture.
