China’s Alternative to Climbing a Mountain Face: A 300-foot Staircase

Climbing mountains requires a great deal of courage and a lot of stamina. However, many still choose to take on the challenge to be closer to Mother Nature — breathing fresh air, hearing birds chirping, and feeling the cool breeze as it gently touches them.
Now, even people who are not that adventurous can experience this sort of adventure – with the same thrill that climbing hand over foot up a mountain will bring you.
A 300-foot staircase along a mountain face in the Taihang Mountains in Linzhou, China is the next best thing if you want the same feeling you get when mountain climbing. The hike up the stairs provides a great experience one will not easily forget, and no special gear is needed.

“Here the wind blows and batters them, the birds fly past them, the stairs creak. It is a lot more authentic than an elevator,” an official said.
However, due to safety and health concerns, the management has qualifications before anyone is allowed to ascend. Climbers must be under 60 years of age and are asked to fill out a form confirming that they do not have heart or lung problems.

    God yes!

I don't know that doesn't sound that bad to me we take hundreds of steps every day.

LOL about the bowling ball! I'd love to see that.

A more authentic chance at a heart attack? I'd probably freak out half way up or half way down from the shakiness of the thing.

I'd freeze with vertigo after about 50 steps and then have to be coaxed down while clinging to the central column with my eyes squeezed shut.
