Default Has anyone ever been/stayed at Atlantis in the Bahamas?

ENORMOUS resort in The Bahamas, and am curious if anyone has stayed there and could give some insight, given its size. Is it easy to negotiate through? Lots of fun things to do and see?? Any recommendations??

i have a few times and its pretty much heaven. gambling, enormous pools, great food, nice rooms.... easy to find your way around. everything you need.

I toured mainly the interior of it in August. It's very busy & bustling. The lobby (for lack of better word) is like a shopping mall, which adjoins the casino area and aquarium, so you see all these people on tours and then some actual hotel guests are in swimsuits & towels, getting on the elevators. I didn't see the beaches, but I would hope that hotel guests have access to a relatively less busy beach because in the building, people were just everywhere. I liked it to tour, but not sure I'd want to stay there. I'm sure it would be more fun for families with kids because there is so much going on.

i've never been but honestly i find the idea of it to be a huge turn-off. i guess it depends on the kind of holiday you want. personally, i try to avoid large crowds and organised activities so this isn't my kind of thing at all.
what are you planning, lynnie? do you want to go with the kids or without? if it's just you and the hub, i would recommend something smaller and more secluded.

My husband suprised me for my birthday w/a 5 day stay with NO KIDS-leave in a few wks. He wanted something on the East Coast so it didn't take forever to get there and spend of our much coveted time traveling, and with nice weather. Also---they have the Dolphin Swimming, which I have always wanted to do, I know cheesey (which he has booked) and some very nice restaurants.
It looks enormous, which I am not super fond of either. But, I guess all I really need is the casino, bar and beach.

I know only one other person to have stayed there (and cannot seem to get any info from), several friends have 'seen' it when they were on Cruises.

^^Thx, I've seen it, and have the brochure and info from our Travel Agent. Was looking for more first hand knowledge--with the amount of posters thought at least a few had stayed there. Thanks everyone.

been there twice. its awesome, its got everything, something for everyone young and old. Many places to eat, and shop, you dont have to leave for any reason but the public beaches are are close if you want to be around the crowds, Atlantis has its private beaches. What area will you be staying? We stayed at the Cove. Keep your camera handy, we saw Madeline Stowe while we were there. Bring lots of $ for shopping...eating ...casino...They have buses and taxis if you want to venture into town. Its not very big but you can take a tour or walk around. Its very quaint!

Whoa! Way to go Mr. Lynnie!!! You'll have to put out.

I've been to the Bahamas twice over 10 years ago, but didn't stay at Atlantis, so I don't have any firsthand reviews to give. The water and beaches, however, are gorgeous. Regardless, you'll have a fabulous time!!

I think we are staying in a different part, not The Cove, cannot remember off the top of my head. Its near the Casino.(?) My hub wanted to be near everything (including the beach most especially) and chose a different part. I'm sure its not horrible ANYWHERE you stay. Do you know if Nobu is still there? My husband heard it wasn't....not sure. He made reservations at a (he claims!) 5 star restaurant.
We also have a 'meal plan' so our breakfast and dinner (except the 5 star dinner) is included. But obviously, not gambling (which I will be doing!!!) and drinks, which I'll also be doing!

Glad to hear you had a good time!! Thanks for the info!

Ummm Coral towers? The Royal Towers is the closest and then Coral is down farther, easy access tho. Yes, Its all beautiful and upscale. Nobu was still there last year. Some of the best food Ive eaten. The decor is beautiful. I had rock shrimp, sooo good. Many things to chose from. There are quite a few places to eat.

That's where that big ass chair is right? We docked in Nassau when we went on a cruise a few years ago... literally every group/family going on a tour of the city went to Atlantis first to take a picture on the chair and look at the aquarium. SO MANY people there, it was insane. Maybe if you're an actual guest it may be different, but I felt like cattle shuffling through.
