(Tony Gutierrez / Associated Press) Video screens that tower over the field use 36 million LEDs to display more than 25,000 square feet of imagery. The boards are 60 yards long, project figures up to 70 feet tall and were a source of controversy. After the video screens, which loom 90 feet above the field, were struck by punted balls during the exhibition season, the NFL decreed a special do-over rule: If it happens during a game, the play is ruled dead and the down replayed.

It is truly a wonder. Jerry Jones kept that whole area afloat during a really rough time. So many people have good jobs now because of this. The Cheerleaders are thrilled-this is the first time they have had a nice dressing area with plenty of plugs for their hair stuff! He though of every need & followed through. One company advertises free pizza (or something) every time a kicker hits the big screen.

Here's my issue with the ginormous screens...since they sit over the center of the field, wouldn't it distract from watching the action on the field? I think I would prefer screens at the ends of the field. Otherwise, it looks like a kick-ass facility, with the exception that there is no excuse to watch outdoor sports under a roof. If you choose to have a sport in a warm weather area, suck it up, us northerners sit through blizzards after all (even for baseball).
Since I'm on a football rant, it is beyond suckiness that the Super Bowl is now always played in a dome or in the south, or most egregious, a dome in the south. Football is a winter sport and the weather is supposed to be in play.
It's actually a good idea that the Super Bowl has to be played in a dome or in a Southern state. Because the Super Bowl isn't one of those games where you want to delay or cancel the game because of bad weather.
Football is a winter sport, but in states where they don't get a lot of snow or cold temperatures those teams don't really have to deal with those conditions, unless they go on road games to northern or midwestern states.
architecturally, it's pretty fug.
it's no bird's nest, that's for sure...

I'd be terrified of the huge screens falling after getting hit by one too many punted balls.
The cheerleaders had a hard time at first because it shows everything close up-75 feet tall. No hiding a flaw there!

which one looks like it's in construction? the bird's nest or the dallas one? that's the finished bird's nest, it's supposed to look like that. actually, both look finished to me.
i don't mean just the skyline or the setting, i mean the actual structure itself - i just don't like the design of the cowboys one.
