Default Off the grid in Alaska

While the Inside Passage in southeastern Alaska is a popular route for cruise ships, there are still portions where civilization only exists on the fringes of the backcountry. Below, the Three Lakes Loop Road in the Tongass National Forest.

Very beautiful, but living off the grid is not the blissful retreat people make it out to be. It is incredibly hard work, especially in a cold climate. Splitting wood for winter SUCKS! (Though there is a feeling of accomplishment looking at a nicely stacked 1/2 of wood.)
