I've never saw that kind of train in NYC. The seating is off. Maybe it's a new model. I've never saw an empty train either.

4am is the deepest, deadest part of the night. Too late to go to bed and too early to get up.

^ It really is. I have to be at work at 4AM at least once a month (when I open) and I am generally the only car on the road when I'm driving there, and I take some MAJOR roads to get to work. It's actually creepy sometimes. It's also odd waking up to start your day at 3AM, the time you used to go to bed in college....

That train looks suspiciously like the old ones from my city.

I love it when normally busy streets are like a ghost town, completely empty. It's fascinating and I love the peace and quiet, even if it's eerie. In college one of my favorite times was when everyone had already left for breaks and I had to stay to work. It was like I had the whole beautiful campus to myself. Idyllic.

I wish I could do everything I need to during those hours when everything is deserted.

Photo 1 - was taken at a spot on Kings Beach called Happy Valley. Its an awesome spot to watch the world go by.

I read somewhere that your metabolism is at its slowest at 4am too. It's the time of day you are supposed to be deep asleep and resting. But some people have to be up and about then for work - bakers, newsagents, etc.

The look like the 1980s NYC trains on further thought. I can remember when the seating was like that, but I'm not 100% sure. I was in single digits for most of the 80s.

4am is best after you have been to a bar all night and it has closed and you are at an all night restaurant and eating with friends and you are still buzzed and happy and are with a guy you like and you know you are going to have a good time with him in an hour or so and then sleep peacefully through the morning with him! *from memories of long ago... *

Also if you are visiting a friend you have not seen in a long time and you have stayed up very late watching cool movies and eating nachos made with Gruyere cheese(tons of it) and then the movie is off and you go outside.. it is a warm, strange summer night, and a high wind is blowing and making weird noises in the night..and you just sit and enjoy the warm, windy, weird, 4am night. *again from memory*

Also the best electrical storm I ever saw happened around 4am. My partner and I were still up and drove out into the country to see it. We just sat on the hood of the car and witnessed this spectacular electrical storm..no wind or rain, just lightning-almost all cloud to cloud..with streaks and bursts or lightning filling all of the clouds over the whole sky- have never seen anything like it before or since.
Don't slap me, cause I'm not in the mood!

Me too. So we're both using pretty spotty memories. LOL
