"North Central" is what professional linguists call the Minnesota accent. If you saw "Fargo" you probably didn't think the characters sounded very out of the ordinary. Outsiders probably mistake you for a Canadian a lot.
lol that's probably because I am canadian

Says I have a southern accent. No big surprise, there.

    I got Midland...

However, I am Brazilian, and learned English as a child SoCal (I don't have even the slightest hint of a foreign accent... I can easily pass for a native American when speaking). I did spend some time in Minnesota as well, but the only pronunciation difference I felt was in the word "flag" (which sounded like "fleg", lol).

    ...Go figure...

Wow very funny. I got North Central, and they say I have a Minnesota accent and probably get mistaken for a Canadian! Ha that is so funny because people tell me that ALL the time.

I grew up in Washington state, with a redneck deep south dad, and a Seattle born and raised mother, oddly my Grandmother hails from Minnesota and perhaps that is where I picked up my accent. Hmmm.

My friend needs to take this quiz she has a weird accent. When she says English she pronounces it N-glish. Drives me nuts. Mirriam Webster online says it is pronounced eenglish with a long e sound.

What American accent do you have?
    Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio
    I am from Northeast Ohio.

I think that 'Wisconsin' or 'Michigan' accent is soooo distinct...I can pick it up immediately. Most people have no idea what I mean when I say that.
And I even tried changing some of my answers to get a different "accent", and I couldn't! I want to know what the differences are.

I get "Fargo" comments from people I work with on the East Coast, but I can usually squash that theory by imitating the accent from the movie.
You were lucky to have me. But you know what? I think I already got the best part of you. And she's standing right out there. I don't know... what's left just doesn't look so good anymore. Hope Floats

I have the one that all the actors and ppl on T.V. have to have (i was raised in Oregon; its the same as the other west coast states of Washington and California in terms of accent); its the 'normal' American accent that British actors have to use when pretending to be American.

    Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

What American accent do you have?
    Your Result: The Inland North

You may think you speak "Standard English straight out of the dictionary" but when you step away from the Great Lakes you get asked annoying questions like "Are you from Wisconsin?" or "Are you from Chicago?" Chances are you call carbonated drinks "pop."

I'm from Michigan so this was right on. Husband took it, and he was spotted as being from Southern Illinois. This is freakishly correct!

I got 'Western' and I'm from Ohio as well.

People usually ask if I'm from the south, though?
