I'm surprised to see someone with the last name Fudge being pointed out as unusual. I was under the impression that was a fairly common last name (?)

Hee hee, I was just thinking that I have known two different people with the last name fudge of different (though admittedly UK) origins. But yes, he is a famous Fudge indeed

There's an Australian table tennis player called Miao Miao and a New Zealand decathlete named Brent Newdick.

I can't stop laughing about Miao Miao and Brent Newdick. Miao Miao is awesome, especially if it's called out in a waiting room.

Kathryn Fudge looks like Melissa Joan Hart.

It's probably not pronounced that way in China but she's played for Australia for years and that's how the commentators announce it.

And another thing I noticed our commentators do, which I mentioned way back in the Brit/American slang thread, is when they pronounce Jessica Ennis they say Jessica Rennis because we stick an "R" sound between 2 vowels as we can't be arsed pausing.
