That's a good point. I need to work on some kind of "in the event of" notification. Ironically, my kids are with me while I'm posting more often than Mrs. Mohandas.

We all need to work on a notification system. I worry about past posters sometimes. I wonder if something happened to them.

You're the man Mo. That's some Indiana Jones shit right there what with the ball of fire, the last second maneuvering of the car to escape certain death, and the moron ( to be played by Shia Labeuf, naturally).

    Really glad you are ok.

I am glad you're safe, Mo! I hope everyone involved and nearby is safe too. Impressive amount of smoke there.

Thanks, everyone. Angelais, I always use the bathroom right before I head home. Who knows what would have happened, though, if I hadn't.

Did you ever find out what happened to cause it?

Unfortunately, I can't find ANYTHING on the accident. Just checked this morning. I don't know how it is in other areas, but a car accident with a fatality might not even make the news here. We had a minivan that was estimated to be going 80 (35 mph over the speed limit), go off road, and flip 8 times before landing behind our house. Knocked out a section of our neighbor's fence. Landed upside down behind ours. They had to use a tow truck to turn the car over before they could use the jaws of life to cut the top of the car off and pull the woman out. Even then, it didn't make the news, the police would not provide us with a report about it until they could classify us as an impacted victim. I think it sucks, because you have very few ways of determining what roads are trouble spots in our area.

I do see things differently. I've had close calls before, but usually those are fleeting things where the threat is there and gone in an instant. In this case, I just had this slow, incredibly morbid realization that something bad would happen to me, and I didn't have nearly as much control as I would like to get out of the way of it. My poor wife had to hear me freaking out (not screaming, more like whispering "Oh my God, what the fuck? It's heading towards ME.") while it was happening. It felt like a scene out of Final Destination.

I lost control of my car(actually 3 drivers did,one after the other)up on a mountain on a frozen road. The car skidded to a stop at the road,s shoulder, crossing both lanes.Luckily for all of us,no car coming ..i remember thinking as the car was sliding ..omg.i ll never see my kids again...over and over ...horrible.

I never saw cars just randomly burning on the side of the road until I moved to Houston. I STILL don't know how this shit happens but it DOES!

I'm sorry for the necro, but I missed this the first time around. Mo, I'm so glad that you are okay. How freaking scary.

I am bored so I was just going through some old threads and came across this.
