    My sister and I had dresses in a similar fabric, only mine had a ginormous floral pattern on a cream background and my sister's was the same pattern but with a black background. I was so jealous of hers because it was way more lurid than mine, which was the whole point back in the 70s. Her black dress seemed much more mature and my mother would tell me I had to wait til I was older (like there's a minimum age for total fug). I always thought of Little House on the Prairie and how golden haired Mary got to wear blue but brown haired Laura was stuck with pink. I was frumpy Laura.
